I have to agree with you on this one. He isn't the fastest back in the draft or the shiftiest. All he does is score touchdowns.

The NCAA record holder for touchdowns by a running back.

And someone is going to get him cheap because of injuries.

I was casually watching a game a few weeks back and this RB starts going off. Speed, burst, size, strength and toughness. He was playing inspite of ACL in February.....

Kid has 4 1000 yard seasons. He is a steal for somebody.... that may drop on knee = see Canty!

If we had Nors dream scenario of two first round picks, I'd rather see us take Chad Greenway LB high to replace Als and then go for a big WR on the 2nd pick.

Wishful thinking of course.

Just Nors inability to get off trading Glover only to draft his replacement. The man stcisk to his agenda, I'll give him that.

I'm a dog on a bone....

On Glover actually I was pro keeping him to play both 4-3 and 3-4. Many said he could not do that - they were wrong.....
2006 - its time to upgrade at his age/Cap/size....

Still early and always a crap shoot....

I'm not convinced we hae the OT issue resolved...even with Columbo....so

1) Eric Winston, or Joe Thomas, or Jonathon Scott (who ever falls) (OT)
2) LeRon Landry (FS)
3) Todd Watkins (WR)
4) No pick
5) Aldo De La Garza (OG)
6) Devan Long (DE/OLB Tweener)
7) Troy Bienemann (TE)
That's as good as it gets right there.

I'll take that right now.

Granted its early, but...

Trade Glover and future pick to get back into #1, Ngata is a stud 3-4 NT and Glover will be 34?

I wouldn't say value FS - I Think more it was not a priority with all our other holes......

SANTOS IS MY ALL WORLD SLEEPER - I think he could walk on the field and be an NFL RB tomorrow. But also has arm to put up crazy stats as he has as a QB. He could also play WR tomorrow.... Sic athlete

I don't know about trading Glover and not for the reasons you think. First, I don't think he will have much value. Young studs like James/Alexander can't get a second, I doubt Glover would be worth enough to warrant a first.

Second, next year is the last year of his deal. Cutting him doesn't save you much, but you lose a vet leader who is still, IMO, the best lineman on the team. Jim Burt agreed too! :D

I do think NT/DT depth and youth needs to be addressed. I'd like to have that rook learn from Glover too.

I agree he is aging and probably won't be in Dallas beyond next year, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't play out his deal.

I have watched Santos. I saw him get rocked by Montana last year in the I-AA playoffs. He played a decent game though. I-AA QBs need to do more than put up huge numbers to come out early and make it IMO. They need to do it for four years and then wow someone at the combine. Look at how guys like Romo, Ochs, Dickinson, Long, etc played in I-AA and struggled to get drafted or make a team. Not saying he couldn't be a good athlete in the NFL, but I just don't see him coming out early. Heck, look at the ridiculous numbers Crayton put up and he played out his eligibility and was still only a 7th rounder who got cut twice his rookie year.

I'll repost my Bye-Week Boredom Dream Mock, since it was buried in Sports Zone:

First Round: Bobby Carpenter, LB, Ohio State- Also love Huff but I'm projecting any and every "son of a former player/coach" as a future Cowboy until Parcells stops picking them. This one's a no-brainer. He's projected as a high second rounder but I'm planning on picking late so it's not much of a reach... :D

Second Round: Joe Klopfenstein, TE, Colorado- I watched this moose leave everything on the field even as the Buffs got rolled by Texas. He'll win the Mackey award and he sounds like a guy Parcells would draft.

Third Round: Dwayne Slay, FS, Texas Tech- Monster-sized FS (6,3, 215) who covers very well. After watching him dominate last week, did some research and found out he's also a feared headhunter on special teams. Money.

Fourth Round: Jovon Bouknight, WR, Wyoming- My sleeper. Exciting playmaker flying under the radar in the putrid Mountain West conference. Former HS QB, deadly on reverses, puts up biggest numbers against major-school competition. Excellent kick returner and appears to be a very solid character. Sounds like Crayton and could be a similar find.

I like this a lot. I am a huge, huge Carpenter fan. If you could build a LB for this defense, it'd be Bobby Carpenter IMO. Size, coverage ability, even plays as a down lineman pass rusher at times. Not to mention the dad/coach connection.

A guy named Joe Klopfenstein can play on my team any day. Been hearing a lot about him, I need to catch a Buffs game.

I'm biased - Santos played in my backyard and was a freak in high school. He's totally dominated in college.

Some kids rise from that. This kid is that.

I know where you're coming from. I really like to watch I-AA. The playoffs are a hoot.

My first stab -

Trade players / future picks to garner 2nd #1.....

Specifics, please?? Absent specifics, your opinions lack substance...

1a) Ngata NT Fergi backup in 2006

You must be expecting the Boys to trade for a pretty high first rounder...

1B) Pat Watkins - S 6-4 205 4.5

He's a second or third round prospect, and not as good as Laron Landry, Michael Huff, Jimmy Williams or even Jason Allen... I'd draft any of them (except Allen, on account of his hip injury) before I'd think about Watkins...
they're all faster than Pat is...

2) I'm sold - Klopfenstein TE 6-5+ 245 4.59

I know that Parcells likes to collect TEs, and would not be surprised to see him draft another late, I'd be shocked if he spent a first day pick on one, when the Boys have Witten and Campbell...

Mind you, I like Klopfenstein, I just don't see him fitting the Cowboys' needs...

3) Jonathan Orr WR - 6-1 193 4.31 SLEEPER

Hasn't been NEARLY productive enough to justify this high a pick...

4) Dontrell my man Moore RB - STEAL of draft

Uhhh, we don't have a 4th rounder...

5) J Lewis DT - 6-1 310 DT depth

Without something less specific to go on than "J Lewis", I can't comment on this one... a first name and a school would be helpful...

6) M Lawson DE/OLB 6-5 230 4.7 TWEENER

Manny intrigues me, he's apparently up into the 245-250 pound range... but you're dreaming if you think he's gonna still be on the board in the sixth round... he'll be long gone before the end of the 4th, perhaps even on the first day of the draft...

7) Ricky Santos!!!! RS sophomore :) QB/RB UNH rewriting 1 -AA record books.... Next crayton

LOL... you love you some Santos, don't you?? Sorry, the boy would be a card-carrying idiot to come out this early... he needs at least one more year of development...

Again, I like what I've read about him, but not this year...

Knowing you're a devoted draftaholic, I'm confident your future stabs will be a bit more realistic than this one was...

Hey man... I was first on the Watkins bandwagon...

He is just what we need though. Tall, very athletic, rangy... The "centerfielder" free safety we haven't had since... Well, forever.

I would like the prospect of a 6-4 safety...

First Round: Micheal Huff, FS, Texas
He covers a lot of ground from his free safety position and isn't afraid to make plays on the ball.
I like the other top safeties too, but Huff is definitely the best fit for this team.

Second Round: Mike Kudla, DE/OLB, Ohio State
Here's my sleeper. After suffering from a potentially life threatening disease, where he was bleeding from eyes and ears, Kudla has made a full recovery. He's having a break out year as a senior, and posseses incredible measureables. Pound for pound Kudla may be the strongest player in college football. He has enough speed and agility to play OLB in a 3-4 defense at the next level, and might even be strong enough to fill in as a 3-4 end.

Third Round: Mark Setterstrom, OG, Minnesota
This fast and nimble OG is one of the centerpieces to the nation's top rushing team. Should Larry Allen or Marco Rivera falter, they might not get their job back after this kid hits the field.

Ngata will probably be top 5, top 10 at least. No way we get near him.
Trading Glover is stupid- last year of contract, we need him and would not get much anyway.
If we get a NT, it will be down in the later rds to develope.
BP will be taking a good hard look at the tackles we have and decide if he wants anything more then late rdrs- Right NOW I don't see us going above 3 rd for any O linemen. Unless one that BP likes falls. I see us looking for another guard more then a tackle; we really only have Peterman developing now, and he is still unknown.
FS- same thing. LB- untill he has an idea about Burnett no high picks there.
Realistically WR MIGHT be the pick if we keep our first rd- but even that is questionable- depending on what happens with Price and Clayton.
Honestly, I see us trading out of the first rd, maybe even the second- to get more picks for next year: because that is when we willmake the decision about our young QB's- if BP thinks that one of them will be really good, we gorge ourselves on picks in 2007. IF NOT, we go after Brady Quinn.

Yeagh lets trade out of 1st and 2nd - thats great logic!

We can now draft BPA - WR is a weak draft.

My picks are solid - dance in the street.

Nothing about you is solid nors except your bias against fine players Like GLOVER, DAT, etc. Not exactly reason for anyone to take you seriously.

Glover is a fine player and aging DT that will be replaced by guys like Ngata -

Shanle is phasing Dat out - better player for the 3-4

Thats just reality.
