We are starting to see some favorites on the board.
Micheal Huff
A few have mentioned Vickers from Colorado
Bobby Carpenter

Amhad Brooks was the rage last year but Bradie James and Shanle's play and Brooks not having an incredible year have tempered those.

Here's to picking 32 in the 2006 NFL draft

I seriously doubt we will draft another DL in the 1st round. We just drafted Spears, Canty, Ratliff and then got lucky with Johnson. Glover isn't going anywhere IMO, because BP's intention was to lessen his snaps and lengthen his career in Dallas with a solid rotation...we have that now. I have nothing against adding DT/NT depth, but not with our 1st round pick. With the additions of Scott Fujita, Quinton Caver and Kalen Thornton coming back next year, I seriously doubt we draft a LB early or even at all IMO.

And now for something completely different...

1. WR Jarrett Hicks 6-4 210/Texas Tech...Great size, good speed and can learn from KJ and Glenn next year. I have a feeling that he'll declare with Cody Hodges leaving and will be the next great #88 in Dallas. Simply put, we need to DRAFT our #1 receiver in 2006 and I really like Hicks and his potential.

2. RB Taurean Henderson 5-10 205/Texas Tech...Nose for the endzone and can catch anything thrown at him. A better prospect than Westbrook coming out and Parcells has said, you can never have enough good RB's.

3. CB/FS Jason Allen 6-0 200/Tennesee...Should slide because of season ending injury to hip. If not, FS Darrell Brooks 6-1 210/Arizona is another good prospect to consider in the 3rd round IMO.

4. Could trade 1 or 2 players for this selection...maybe a Dat Nguyen?
If so, I would go after an OL in this round. I would like to draft either Will Allen 6-6 305/Texas or Reggie Butler 6-6 345/Virginia Tech. Both are solid prospects from very good programs. Butler is on the heavy side, but so was Pettiti last year.

5. DT Kwakou Robinson 6-4 325/Virginia....Big and strong prospect with a tremendous upside. A no-brainer if he actually falls this far. If not, then maybe Anthony Montgomery 6-5 315/Minnesota...could probably play anywhere on the DL with his size.

6. FB Rashon Powers-Neal 6-2 245/Notre Dame...good all-around FB and will replace Polite almost immediately. Already played with JJ and is coming from Parcells' old buddy Weis to boot. Another possibility at FB I like is Jake Slaughter 6-1 245/Auburn.

7. WR Maurice Stovall 6-5 225/Notre Dame...Simply put, if he's still on the board we take him. Another guy I like in this round would be David Thomas 6-3 230/Texas...has great hands, tough, moves the chains and can score.

A little "over the top" maybe with this type of draft, but I'll take it anyday folks. :)

Nors: I would say SS Roman Harper and OLB DeMeco Ryans from Alabama would be certainly worth checking out. Harper hits like a truck, but might be one of those kids who struggles more in the NFL when asked to cover a lot. Ryans can definitely play, I think. Very instinctive kid who makes plays off the edge. Might be a tad smallish for your tastes as a 3-4 OLB. Still, a very nice player.

LSU has a couple of guys though I have only seen them a couple times this season. David Jones is a pretty good TE (6'4" 265). Andrew Whitworth is a massive offensive tackle. Not quite the size of McNeill or Ferguson, but still 6'6" and 325. Certainly big enough and is a nice athlete. Wroten and Williams are pretty solid DTs for them, but I don't know as much about them except what I've read. Check those two Nors and lemme know your thoughts.

Very good stuff, SS...

The Henderson mention particularly caught my eye. I do believe he's the NCAA all-time leader in receptions among running backs. Feel free to correct me if that's not the case, but I believe that is right. He is elusive and does indeed catch the ball really well.

Oh, and what's not to like about Bobby Carpenter and AJ Hawk. Active and extremely disruptive LBs. What I like about them most is how physical they play. Those kids do not shy away from the point of attack.

Don't forget how smart they both are too.

I don't know. I am not counting on a guy who couldn't beat out Al Singleton, a ST LB that has bounced around from team to team and an undrafted FA with an injury history to magically fill this OLB position. Bill mentioned it in a PC as being a tough position to fill. I'd be all for adding a talented guy there.

ILB as well. I like what James/Shanle/Dat have done there this year. I hope, at some point, Burnett gets it and is in the mix there too. Would I like an upgrade there? Certainly.

This team needs offensive playmakers in the worst way too though.

I am a big Tech fan and Henderson will go in the top 3 rounds gauranteed but Hicks will not go round 1. He just doesn't have enough speed. I'd say he is a mid 2nd to mid 3rd round prospect.

Stovall will go in the same area as Hicks and probably before him. Stovall blocks extremely well and uses his size well. I'd take him over Hicks. If Stovall gets the speed training to run in the 4'5"s he will go late 1st. Not a tremendously different prospect from Mike Williams.

Taurean Henderson is a Westbrook type for sure. Unbeleivably good hands and the ability to regularly make the first guy miss. Probably not quite as good top end speed as Westbrook but a very good 3rd down back or WCO back.

Other Techies to watch are Dwayne Slay and Vincent Meeks at safety. Slay is a strong hitter who broke Derrick Johnson's long-lived(1 year, lol) fumble caused record. Meeks has coverage skills galore having played lots of CB and Slay is a monster tackler with very good range. I would think both are 2nd day selections tho Slay could go in round 3.

I hope all the other teams think just like you do, then Hicks will still be there when we pick....at #32 :)

Hey JT, what do you think about Saldi? Isn't he about a 6-5 linebacker? Is he hurt too much for Parcells to want him? He does have the NFL father going for him. :)

God, I can't say enough about Michael Huff. I saw plenty of him at Nimitz HS in Irving, not far from here. But that kid keeps impressing every time out. He is a FS (can also play corner) and leader of a pretty darn salty UT secondary. Gene Chizik and Duane Akina, the Texas DCs have such confidence in the kid and his intelligence, he is allowed the freedom to check out of defensive calls and change coverages that were sent in originally.

Huff plays smart and he plays fast. Great ball skills too.
Agree wholeheartedly!!! There's NO WAY Huff will last into the 2nd round! It's either the 1st round or someone else cuz he won't be available afterwards.....

The all-time I-A record for receptions from ANY PLAYER is 316 by Taylor Stubblefield of Purdue. After today's game, Henderson is currently in 5th place with 296.

Let me repeat that...

RB Taurean Henderson currently has 296 receptions and the I-A record is 316!!!

Did I say 2nd round pick?

Ummm....I'm thinking here....that maybe.....hmmmmm

He's way too small.
He is like 6'5" but only about 215.
His play at Tech has been up and down.
