I'm just looking for consistency. He was roasted last week for choking against a horrible D and, if he didn't convert that 4th down, he would have been roasted unmercifully.

These guys can't have it both ways.

Unfortunately, yes they can. (both sides are annoying btw) They are fans of a team with one playoff win in the last 17 years. And as much good tony romo has been compared to the last 1/2 dozen or so QB's the cowboys has had, he has been a part of that heartache as well.

Can we enjoy this sunday, and hope the team can play well next week?

If they win the Super Bowl, you can Claim "RomoVictory" all to yourself…..

I can get behind that.

Honestly, I think Romo gets the most flak for meltdowns because one, he doesn't have a super bowl ring and two, he's the Cowboys QB. The media loves to cover the Cowboys so whenever there is a chance that they could be good, ESPN and likes do everything to get the Romo is a choke artist over because if say he overcame the label and won a super bowl, it would be a great short term story but the choking would have no legs anymore.

drew super bowl brees threw 2 costly int's in a loss today.

alex smith threw 2 costly int's n a loss today.

joe super bowl flacco has thrown 2 costly int's in what is shaping up as a loss today.

i thought only our guy chokes in meaningful games?

Why do people continue to make these lame threads? Flacco and Brees have proven themselves in playoff games.

Romo has not.

End of story.

End of story.

Not to mention scrutiny was clearly on Flacco last year, and he proved them wrong. (that's just how it is)

Stop making these threads and root for Romo to help carry us to a Super Bowl , not one step closer to 8-8.

Does not matter, they are still better than Dallas. This is becoming a pattern with Saints fans after big losses, still consoling themselves with the forty-burger game over a month ago. I take relish in surreptitious fashion the events of the last two weeks...from #2 to now #6, and if they wet the bed at home, which I don't anticipate, they would actually be out with a Cards win! The pompous bloviating of Hebert and Detillier all season has blown up in their faces, with Hebert today so depressed he could barely speak...not exactly a minor miracle. The honeymoon with Sean Payton is fast coming to a close. Some fans may have thought it was circa 2009 at the beginning of the season but now they have to acknowledge that the offensive line is just not as good as it once was...the benching of LT Charles Brown was followed by 6 sacks of Brees today. I did not think that Payton would actually go through with benching Brown for the game...only to send him a message that last week was unacceptable. I was wrong.

Bottom line...Carolina went 0-9 on third downs and STILL beat New Orleans, courtesy of 2 Brees INT's. Yes, Carolina was that lethargic on offense, and I was convinced that the Saints had it wrapped up with 2 minutes to play. I guess "Fig" Newton and the boys did not! Incredible for Carolina, and potentially catastrophic for New Orleans! Ain't it cool?

Also, I remember the days when Peyton, hell Marino to a lesser extent would get killed for being great QBs that can't win the big one.

if you think about it, really a compliment to Romo that people expect better from him because they know he's very good.

The media doesn't count any non Cowboys chokes/giveaways/poor performances..... To them the only good thing is a Bad Cowboys Performance ...

the same drew brees who went 7-9 last year with a defense like the cowboys? the same brees who has 1 sb in 12 seasons as a starter? same brees who has thrown 4 costly picks the last 2 weeks in losses?

think about this, brees and peyton. 2 of the best qbs of our generation and arguably 2 of the best qb's of all time. drew has 1sb in 12 seasons, peyton has 1 in 15 seasons. so 2 sb's in 27 seasons. and people will tell you this team will NEVER win with romo after 6 seasons as starter, despite having less defensive help than any sb champ ever.

and eli has 2 in less time

How can I explain this so that in the future, people won't start threads about other quarterbacks. No one ever said Romo was the only one that choked. That's part A. Please remember that for all the thread starters calling out people over Romo.

Next, regardless of what you say about Brees, he's broken a ton of records, not just team records. League records. Please note this too.

Third, he has won a Super Bowl and play off games. To make it to the Super Bowl, you have to be clutch. Not clutch in the regular season, game 5, but clutch in a pressure situation where if you lose, you go home. He had to win a minimum of 3 games against TOP OPPONENTS to win the Super Bowl, with everyone in the world watching.

When Romo does that, then you can talk.

Third, when we say Romo chokes, we are basing this on his ENTIRE career, not just one game, or not just this year.
So if you look at Brees' entire career, he has been clutch enough to win a Super Bowl.

One day, this once proud franchise will stop pretending that a regular season victory against a sub. 500 team is enough evidence to talk trash. This once proud franchise will hope for more than a beat down in the regular season. I refuse to have this mind set, my mind set is Super Bowl or bust. "every year"

All true, but Brees isn't doing all that all by himself either. Without his coach last year he was pretty ordinary at times. He has had a good team surrounding him for almost his whole career in NOLA. Romo has had to deal with a sub-par coaches and (until this year) an offensive line that almost got him killed.

Marino got lambasted on the regular. But He was also putting up numbers that league had never seen…
Elway was depressed about his criticism for years… but he also had some of the most memorable wins in NFL history, not to mention, finally winning the SB/w TD. (key is MEMORABLE, skins in week 16 isn't, eagles in week 17 is).

People remember the negatives more then the good things a QB does anyway.. I don't think clutch is something you can really say one has it and this person does not. even though it's treated that way. Elway was not a bad QB because he hadn't won a super bowl.. same with Manning and Marino isn't but hes seen as lesser. Just the way it is.

Not disputing what you are saying, because I think we agree for the most part, but the size of the stage make winning and losing memorable to the media and fans.

And for the record, I think some people handle pressure differently…. you can ask Ernest Byner.

The way this is reported is part of the problem. I guarantee you they aren't going to have roundtable discussions on NFL network about the interceptions by Drew Brees.

The fact that Romo is the headline story every time the team ends up losing a game late while other QBs don't is what creates the perception that Romo performs poorly in clutch situations compared to other QBs. It's a result of a constantly perpetuated confirmation bias.

As Percy has already shown in many threads the public perception of Romo has little correlation with his actual overall performance in such situations.

And some day, people are going to learn that one man does not a team make...Brees, Romo, and the rest do not win or loss by themselves...
