Ricky is a certified nutcase who has admitted to smoking pot and has been accused of not trying his hardest at times, especially when he played on bad teams. He's old and it's been several years since he played at a high level (no pun intended).

Substitute the name "Randy Moss" in there and the exact same thing holds true. How's that guy doing in a new environment?

I'm not saying he'll have the same kind of success, but if we can get him for practically nothing, I don't see why we shouldn't take a chance. We do have an offensive line that seems geared towards his style of play.

Well if we loose JJ at the end of the year I would not mind giving RW a shot in training camp to prove himself. He has low milage and a ton of talent. Granted he has a 10 cent head. But like I said I would let him prove himself furnign training camp.

Then again I would grab Pac-man if the titans cut him. Especially since jerry said this team is built to handle some guys who need extra attention. Pac would definatly solve any corner and Punt return issues we had.

So it's based on teams being stupid rather than Jones' actual value?

I actually like the guy and keep hoping for him to do well.

But every week that goes by makes him look like just a guy.

Some GM will pull out his rookie tapes, and like many here will convince themselves that he is much more than he is.

His brother was an average player for a couple of years in AZ, found himself in a great situation in Chicago, and now is looking average again for the Jets. My guess is that's pretty much how Julius' career is going to track, although I certainly hope for the best for him.

Jerry also said they did a lot of research on Tank Johnson talking with his coaches and former teammates and felt they could deal with him with the structure we have in place. It is not a matter of giving chances to every problem player out there because there is no system that is going to stop the likes of Pacman and or Ricky Williams unless they are set on changing themselfs. Dallas did get enough positive feed back on Tank

So I take it you have done a lot of research and talk to players and coaches about Pac man, right?

I can agree with this. Tho Thomas reinvented himself in Tampa Bay before leaving to go Chicago. I think Chicago's o-line is much better than the Jets. That along with a training camp injury has made him look extremely average. And while Thomas got his money, he didn't necessarily go to a better situation in New York. I think Thomas and Chicago were a good fit. Cedric Benson and Chicago, notsomuch.

we have about as much use for an old broken down reefer addict in ricky williams as a cat has for pajamas.

Agents must just throw the cowboys into the pot to the media just for their own attention.

Hypothetically, if the Cowboys are interested in ole RW Puff'n Stuff, it would be interesting to see how his workout would turn out. Ricky although "Full of Smoke", has consistently kept himself in shape and we must realize that he hasn't played much football and he's really not damaged goods externally. I mean look at the current pot users that went undetected in the NFL that are performing at a high level. The difference between them and Williams is that he chose to man up and not hide it like the others did with the Whizzinator! IMO, if Ricky still has what he had the last time he played for Miami, then we could get something from him. I also feel that guys on our team would put their arms around him and keep him from the "Marijuana Farms" in North Texas. If he's signed, Julius will be traded before the deadline.....

No but the police have a hell of a list and even the Titans management and GM have said they knew he had some problems and hoped he would change but they were wrong. Those are their words. In Tank case you have a head coach in Chicago who thinks Tank is not a bad guy just a bit immature and was very positive about him when Dallas took a chance on him. I doubt you will hear Tenn making the same comments after they release Pacman and they will release him.

what a guarantee. : )

so what if he doesn't? what do you "guarantee"? that we can have our draft picks back and redo that draft? you'll buy out mcfaddens contract? a guarantee from you or i is pretty useless isn't it? i mean how do you intend to back that up?

just makes your point less...um...tangible when you go off and do that.

Are you posting just to post? Seriously.

Ok instead of guaranteeing. I strongly believe that McFadden is going to be a darn good pro.

Is that better?

Granted at the time everyone looked terrible in AZ, but I think the schemes in Tampa and Chicago just fit Thomas' extreme North-South style better.

I don't doubt Julius will be gone after this year, and he may wind up in a situation that makes him look more productive. But I think he is just like his brother - a decent, average NFL running back who in the exact right situation can look better than average.

For the record, I think Barber's advantage in vision and balance give him more ability to succeed when the situation is less than optimal, which makes him an above average back. But I don't think his name will ever be breathed in the same sentence with Thomlinson either.

p.s. I don't agree Julius is dogging it or mailing it in either. Never has. He really wants to prove it was just BP screwing him up...

I agree with that. He was better than what the Jets put out there last year, but he's not going to be as successful as he was in Chicago.

I think Julius was just done in by expectations. 'Boys fans just aren't prepared to have just an average to decent back. We've been blessed to have some great ones; so there's nothing wrong with those expectations.

However, there are many more backs in this league who need to be in the right situation to be successful than there are who can excel in any situation. So while I *want* the great back, I'm ok with the two-back approach as long as it's working.

For the record, I think Barber's advantage in vision and balance give him more ability to succeed when the situation is less than optimal, which makes him an above average back. But I don't think his name will ever be breathed in the same sentence with Thomlinson either.
Time will tell with Barber. I honestly view him about the same as I do Julius. He provides something different than Julius and so he has different flaws. He's not a special back, but he can be a very good one in the right situation. Dallas may or may not be the right situation for him. I could see him being gone after a year, too. I could also see him signing a mid-level backup deal to stay.

i agree i would take Ricky over Jones anyday. JJ is not a good RB so its not a compliment to Ricky! i would take a playing while high Williams over Jones. ok not really but its pretty damn close!

See if he can produce next year kinda like what we did with Colombo.

Didn't Reggie Bush have over 1300 total yards and 9 TD's his Rookie year?

didn't 800 come on receptions?

Reggie Bush is a hybrid and i'd tap the breaks before saying his game doesn't translate.

Especially only 4 games into this season.

he has 20 games at a position that is one of the easiest, if not the easiest, for college players to transition to in the pros
