It appears that Dunbar is this year's top candidate for whipping boy.

Hey everyone gets a turn.

Dunbar is getting heat not because of Dunbar...he is getting it because people don't feel the 1st or 2nd back have ever been much for short yardage. Neither McFadden or Randle are the types to move the pile on 3rd and short...McChicken legs just falls down by the shoelaces and Randle is a bit small....so people want Dallas to use Dunbars spot on a back who can come in and break some tackles and get the short yardage...

Now short yardage doesn't mean what McFadden has done the last 3 years with 3.3 ypc...that's some short yardage.

Dunbar is the unholy offspring of Darren Sproles and Zeus himself. His gaze withers the strongest of hearts and turns warriors legs into jelly. Hot pepper jelly. The really hot kind.

The only reason Dallas has been keeping Dunbar under wraps is because the league is trying so hard to reduce brain injuries. They are waiting for old age to start creeping up on Dunbar before he is unleashed on regular football players.

Do not doubt Dunbar. The road to hell is paved with people who did.

Dunbar is a poor man's Dexter McCluster. This makes me a sad panda. Who wants to give me a hug.

The last couple years, we've been hearing about how Dunbar will be a significant piece of the offense -- kinda like Escobar. And I then nothing much. But if they want a thumper as RB, then I think Dunbar is expendable, and Whitehead can take his place as backfield/slot receiving threat. They just don't seem interested in giving Dunbar carries. So just get a power back who will actually have a specialized role.

I can name a few of these. I don't know of it's the same with all teams, but it just seems like we always have a lot of fans who will anoint a player because he has a good game or two. Or based on hope of a good college player, because it's a position we need an upgrade at . Dunbar, Escobar, Matt Johnson, Roy Williams, Felix Jones, we can go on and on.

If he was next man up at some point do you think he could gain 80 yds.a game with this line?
I actually think he could. By the way that 80 yds a game would translate to a12-1300 yd. season.
With the holes this line creates and his spead he could have some big games.
The problem is I can't see him staying healthy.
Our passing attack is going to be special. Our defense is now an asset.
We don't have to cover for the defense with our running game anymore.
Good luck preparing for us, we can do it all.

Nailed it. Maybe La'el can take some hand offs.

I want to just see Dunbar. For the life of me I don't get it. We coddle him. Last PS we sat him on the bench with the vets as if he had proved anything. And now this PS we have used him barely. Thats the issue. We want to see what the staff see's. And they don't let us! A 3rd string rb should be leading the PS in rushing for crying out loud!! It is a very strange situation really.

He took a swing pass on third down and turned it into a big gainer with the score tied @ 10, the Cowboys would score to go up 17-10.

3rd and 8 at DAL 22
(2:13) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to L.Dunbar to DAL 43 for 21 yards (E.Thomas; K.Chancellor).

Thanks. I wish i had that game on tape.

With Murray now gone, and no actual feature back on this team, I think this season might be the year where you finally get to see a little more of Dunbar.

That is unless McFadden or Randle just light the world on fire when they're in the game.

I hope so. I feel that DMC and Randle are similar backs to Dunbar. Thus his skills are redundant. I still believe he is expendable. If you don't use it then you should lose it. We haven't used him for many years now. I don't see us using him any different than before.

What blows my mind is they can't even play him in the preseason.

He's been here forever and is a complete unknown.

He gets treated with more caution than Tom Brady.

Dunbar is the greatest bench warmer in the history of cowboys has ever seen. You don't want that type of talent to get injured during a preseason game do you?

I'm not sure, first I'd have to see that type of talent - maybe in a preseason game.

I agree. Would have been nice to see his talent. I think they're hiding it from other teams. If they saw his talent they might want to trade 3 first round draft picks for him. He is that good.....
