I want to just see Dunbar. For the life of me I don't get it. We coddle him. Last PS we sat him on the bench with the vets as if he had proved anything. And now this PS we have used him barely. Thats the issue. We want to see what the staff see's. And they don't let us! A 3rd string rb should be leading the PS in rushing for crying out loud!! It is a very strange situation really.

The staff decided to set him
Have you considered that maybe he has proven something to them?
I mean all they know about him is what they've seen in practice that we haven't
Maybe they set him because they already know what he can do and they aren't concerned with convincing fans?
Just a thought

Dunbar had 29 carries last year, 30 in 2013, and 21 in 2012, along with 18 receptions last year.

He's not an unknown, we know exactly what we have in this guy. He's a poor poor man's Darren Sproles.

This RB angst makes me want to shoot myself in the face.

We're in the same position we've been in for the last four years when and if Demarco Murray gets injured, only we also have McFadden.

Lance Dunbar: He is now the grand champion, all time Dallas Cowboys record holder in the category of "ratio of significant number of plays in regular season games vs mentions on CowboysZone", inching out previous record holders Ben Bass and Matt Johnson.

Well done Lance.

He's not a anything Darren Sproles. He's a JAG that should have been replaced already. Hopefully he is about to be.

Man, he is not going to go anywhere this year. He is going to be on the 53 no matter what happens in all likelihood.

Not even talking about if I do or do not want him on the team... but he is going to be.

Having 90 carries spread over 3 years with most of those carries coming on delayed handoffs in the shotgun doesn't tell us about him. I'd guess you can't find another back in the league who has been on a team for 3 straight years and has less than 100 total carries and doesn't have to earn his spot on the roster.

When you are going to use a running back by committee approach it would be nice if the entire committee could brought a unique skill set ect...can Dunbar do anything McFadden or Randle can't?
I like Dunbar. He seems to be slippery and quick....I just wish we had a more diverse tandem in front of him so that we had the luxury of a specialty scat back as the third member of the committee.

If Dunbar makes the 53 and gets less than 500 yards, I'll consider this roster decision a big fail.

Ok you do that. Then find me other 3rd string backs around the league that get 500+ yards. I'm just guessing but there may be one or two and that's it.

What do ppl expect from a 3rd string running back?

Apparently a lot. Just as they expect other teams's 4th string reject cuts to come in and outshine the guys we have and become Pro Bowlers. Just as they wanted Cole Beasley cut every camp for the last few years and Escobar cut and Romo benched.

Yo, do you remember the brief time period at the beginning of either the 2012 or 2013 season (not sure which) when Witten was sort of "off" the 1st few games (had a couple bad drops, penalties, missed block or two) and about half this place was calling for his head? "He's washed up", "cut him now", "it was fun while it lasted but now he's finished". LOL. Good times here on the zone.

Dunbar is a scrub. Waaaaaaay over hyped by fans over the years. He's on this roster because this team has next to no talent at RB.

Much different to discuss a small fragile back who has never proven anything and a future hall of fame player.
While I see your point it also misses it's mark in a real way.

You're missing my point. Look at the post I quoted/responded to. My remarks were off-topic at worst. They had nothing to do with Dunbar. At all.

You save a rare talent like Dunbar for the Super Bowl. Like Timmy Smith

That was probably one of the "hidden" plays Romo/Garrett had for GB. Dunbar trots out like Willis Reed in the final 30 seconds - BOOM 50 yards

It's not just about Dunbar. It's about what's in front of him. If we had more confidence in the number 1 and 2 back then keeping a roster spot open for a pass catching small scat back to play third downs would be as scary. Either Randle or McChicken legs will get hurt at some point this year....then Dunbar will be asked to carry his weight....how would you feel going into a game with the combo of McFadden and Dunbar?

Bro, at this point who's overhyping him? This place is flooded with posts bashing him, calling for him to be cut, etc. If anything he's a whipping boy at this point, regardless of whether he's a scrub or talented.
