Durant agrees to terms with Cowboys

I like the fact that our LBs are all fast, good tacklers with range. If the DL can hold up vs the run, which is a huge unknown at this point, this front 7 can be really good. Obviously S on the back end is a huge question mark...

I pulled up the All-22 and watched a full game focusing on Durant.

I'm surprised by the reports that he had issues in coverage because I would guess the opposite based on the one complete game that I watched.

He got beaten 1 time in coverage.

Physically, he looks like a big Safety. He is quick, has a good backpedal, and can flip his hips easily in transition out of the backpedal. He looked good when in man coverage.

If he really did have coverage problems in other games, it must have been from mental busts because physically, he appears to have above average ability in that area.

So are offseason FAs so far are:

Spencer
Sims
Durant

And no real losses due to FA though we did have some cuts.

So far, it really isn't horrible.
Could be better--though I'm trying to think what FA so far would radically upgrade our team and be worth the price.
Could be worse.

Right. And I don't think we are done yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see us add a Will Allen and then some veteran WRs, RBs, and DL. I really like this move.

Right now just thinking of September :D

Yeah - one day - one game at a time. I do really like many players that make up the core of this team though. Here's hoping for a good draft.

I agree that his issues in coverage are overrated. DET suffered a ton of injuries to their secondary and linebackers and Durant was forced to play more nickel. I think he should be a fine fit in the SAM linebacker for us.

I can't figure out why Detroit didn't resign him. From reading his player bio, seems like a really solid player, and young.

I think this draft sets up well for the Cowboys based on their needs. While some areas of this draft look weak the OL, DL and Safety prospects gives me hope that we can address some issue and still get the BPA in this draft

I believe Jerry said there's interest in a G/C type, which makes me think there's some interest for Barrett Jones. BPA is the way to go.

Schwenke or Frederick work for me.

Just build a great defense because Romo is going to screw up.

Build a talented offensive line so your QB doesn't have to be Superman every game for you to stand a chance.

This is what I saw in his Thanksgiving game vs. Houston.

Was obviously waiting for the Dallas game, but I was watching Detroit/Houston and thinking "This guy's a baller."

Pencil him in as a starter.

Brian Price?

that's what kind of worries me as well. it's kind of like the time when the Mavericks traded for Lamar Odom and everyone thought that was an odd move by the Lakers. But it turns out we (the mavs) were wrong and the lakers were right.

If we get this dude truly healthy again, he becomes the younger, defensive version of Marc Columbo. Get him healthy, and - combined with Lissemore and Crawford - this team will have a young rotation to groom in to starters in the next year or two when Hatch and Rat become even more expendable. When they announced the switch to the 4-3, I immediately felt that guys like Lissemore and Crawford would be able to show their truw abilities. I see Crawford, since Jerry basically said he's a DT, growing into a disruptive presence inside where his OK quickness on the edge will become superior quickness on the inside.

Hard to say, but we dumped Kevin Burnett, Scott Shanle, and Scott Fujita. They all played for years or are still playing, and the latter two even started for a Super Bowl winner.

That's right.

I really like this guy's potential as a rotational player. His per snap stats are actually pretty impressive.

So yes

Spencer, DE
Price, DT
Sims, LB
Durant, LB

Not bad so far....though the value could get out of whack depending on Spencer's contract. The other three look to be good value.

How is Price as a pass rusher?

You’re not kidding, Romo is having 2 or 3 defenders in the back field with him and many times he is having to weave and dodge his way around to get the damn ball off. There are many times I can't figure out how the hell he got away from the pressure and made the big throw.

No doubt Romo makes mistakes given the pressure he gets I'm frankly surprised he does not make more. I know many arm chair QB here would never throw an int but the reason defense in football try to bring pressure is to cause mistakes by the offense and QB and god knows Romo sees a lot of pressure

He has been ripped for how he wears his cap, having a so called bad luck girl friend in the stands, playing golf during his off time. Some have been riding him since he took over and will always find something to rip Romo on.

As for post season success or SB well when facing top teams which you will see come playoffs your team better be playing quality football not just the QB.
