They both are illegal. And with the original legal results, outside of the NFL.....just as trivial.
Jaywalking won't get you arrested or suspended by the NFL. Unless you're doing it drunk, high, beating someone while you're doing it, etc...

Heard about it a while back, never really looked into it much. There's a lot of moving parts here and the fact that she's a liar holds no weight when it comes to what happened between her and Zeke. In the NFL's eyes, just because she's a known liar, doesn't mean he didn't do it.

She is not just a known liar, but she was caught lying about the very thing she is accusing Elliott. The NFL decided that this material point was immaterial.

The Moskovich analysis speaks to the heart of this issue. The NFL, and Goodell specifically, has no clue what it's doing with these issues and seemingly make the rules up as they go along. They are overcompensating here for failures in the past to elicit good press.

I can't wait for Zeke's lawyers to put out their side of the story as well as Jerry Jones and company to publicly acknowledge their displeasure with how the investigation was run. By the end of this thing the NFL is going to look as idiotic as ever ... again. This is about to get good.

Funny how neither Schefter or ESPN mention that Thompson was caught, red handed, lying to police and asking her friend to lie to police.

The NFL chose to believe Thompson in spite of this which is far more damning to the NFL than the NFL siding with Thompson despite saying she was going to ruin his career.

But hey, why let those pesky details come to light?

It'd be cool if Elliott's camp had an actual slew of new info to very publicly embarrass the league with after all of this.

I almost wish they wouldn't appeal and would just take the hit and then sue the league. If this plays out that they hit him for 6 games with no basis using the conduct unbecoming and then bargain it down to 3 games or whatever for appearances, that'll be more irritating than them just handing down the suspension in the first place. All this posturing and using the Cowboys spotlight to make a point that they've repeatedly bungled in situations with much clearer cause makes me want to gag.

This is what I've been saying. The CBA gives the league a ton of disciplinary power, but it does not allow them to distort the truth, which is what this investigation did. They came into it with the intention of trying to find anything to tie Zeke to DV, ignored the overwhelming evidence destroying this accusers version of the truth, and have fabricated a story to fit their agenda.

I don't care what CBA you have, that's criminal under any labor law in the United States.

Allegedly assaulted his GF, broke a DJ's nose, St. Patrick's day incident (which would qualify as sexual assault if it was deemed non-consentual); all illegal.
Witnesses state he didn't throw the punch, and no one heard a single complaint from the woman at the parade.

It isn't just ESPN -- sports media, writ large, is extraordinarily lazy when it comes to covering the NFL because of the idiocy of the fan base on a large scale.

They play to the lowest common denominator. It's sad. For comparison go read any column about the NBA or MLB -- Night and day difference in subject matter and type of writing, although the media has started to do the same with LeBron James and I hope they don't swing that way with one of my other favorite sports.

I think it's telling that schefter used the word "furious" twice to describe JJ. I think it's very like Jerry is ready to take this to court.

One clear advantage to taking this to court is that the suspension gets delayed. In the case of Brady, it was delayed an entire season. It might be prudent to take the case to court and see how well the team is playing later in the season. If for some crazy reason we fall out of the playoff race, or we have a playoff spot locked up earlier as we did last year, he can elect to compromise and take the suspension immediately.

Again though, he was tied to both incidents. The NFL has proven to us that he doesn't have to be found guilty of anything to get suspended, only be associated by name.

Did I say arrested? Did Ezee get arrested?

I said illegal. Your comment is completely out of context, IMO.

I said arrest OR suspended by the league.

You're attempting to compare jaywalking and assault, and from a legal standpoint, there's no comparison. One is certainly more serious than the other, and to imply otherwise is illogical.

Either way, we're going in circles on this topic, this'll be my final post on the matter.

Counsellor, what say you about EE and the Cowboys' standing in this case?
Can Jerry claim restraint of free trade within a league that governs itself?
Can EE claim loss of real and potential revenue due to false claims and damage to his reputation, i.e, slander per se?

Sheesh.

I'm comparing Ezee's lack of guilt to that of jaywalking.
