To me, even though he became a HORRIBLE human being, OJ’s ‘73 season should be recognized as the best based on his YPG (143.07). OJ’s YPG in ‘73 would’ve netted him 2289 yards in 16 games and 2432 in 17.

You're kinda right. So maybe the best way to look at seasons is just "most dominant" which you can at least partially support with stats like OJ's YPG average. For example, Reggie White doesn't have the season sack record but had 21 in the 12 of 16 games he played in 1987 and is the most dominant display I have ever seen. I don't think anyone has had that dominant a stretch anywhere, sack record holder or not.
