17 games aren't normal.

10 years from now 17 games will be normal and 18 games will be weird. Then soon after that it’ll feel like it was always 18 games, and 20 games will be looming.

Once upon a time 16 games wasn’t normal. And before that 14 games wasn’t normal. And before that the BFL was out of their minds when they expanded to 12 games.

What is normal if it’s not 17 or 16 or 14 or 12?

Barkley started 16 games this year.

If he played Sunday it would be 17.

It's gross that Barkley could have broke the all-time record while averaging 6 less yards per game than Dickerson did.
Is it gross that Watt has the sack record by 1/2 when Reggie White set it in 12 games? Dickerson set the record in 2 more games than OJ as well.

That means it'll hurt that much more for the Eagles when they don't win the Super Bowl. I can't imagine how hard it would be for them to come out of this season with no record or no trophy.

They’re going to lose the first round, might as well play the players so they can have more fun. They only have two games left.

I did not know that about Dickerson thank you . People think it’s harder today because because they split the running duties. If he gets it, he deserves it in my opinion.

More often than not, "rest" results in "rust."

If you have a well-oiled machine, keep running it. But, playing scared is such a Philly thing to do. And they deserve to pay for it in the playoffs.
Just like Andy Reid resting his starters. Those phonies in KC will never win anything with that attitude

Good call. Even if Saquon broke the record, doing it in 17 games isn't as impressive.
O.J. Simpson broke the 2,000-yard barrier in 1973 in just 14 games and that mark wasn't touched again until Dickerson did it in 1984 in a 16-game season with 2,105 with no bye weeks for either RB.

17 games with a bye week is just not the same for any NFL record prior to 1990.

2k yards in a season is still an impressive accomplishment, but I agree the extra game cheapens single season records. I'm sure fans felt the same way when the nfl went from 12 games to 14 games, then to 16 games. However, 16 game schedules were the standard for 43 years, by far the longest out of all the formats.
