Very easily I'm a football fan and what saquon Barkley does with the single season rushing record does not affect the Cowboys in any negative way.
Not being active in free agency and taking premier players like saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry is what negatively affects the Cowboys and our owner general manager is responsible for that not me.
I've been following the Cowboys passionately since the late sixties
But I can appreciate good football being played by anyone how long have you been a cowboy fan.
At the end of day, exactly how does any professional sports team affect you unless you draw a paycheck from them?

My comment about being a cowboys fan and being "deserving" is kind of ironic given the cowboys ownership over the last 30 years or so and what their ownership has done to the team other than hiring the first man that was both right and a blessing (and now a curse) to the team.

Sad to say being a fan of any sporting team doesn't make you deserving of anything, let alone affecting the decisions of the ownership.

OJ did probably have the best tv commercials out there for Hertz at the time though LOL

I thought more games or more playoff teams or just more football was supposed to make the last few weeks more exciting. Seems a lot of teams are still playing for nothing.

I'll tell you how exactly it affects you when you're a fan and you put out good money to see the best play that's what you want to see that's what you're paying to see the best play the best at their best.
You don't buy season tickets pay ridiculous amounts for parking and food and every other thing to watch the second string play.

That kind of stuff is like adding another preseason game at the end of the year do you purchase season tickets or invest the time in watching if at the end of the year you're not going to get to watch the best play and have a chance to break a record.

The owners and the players all make enough money to give the fans the best viewing experience at all times and that requires the best players to play when they are healthy.

It is tough decision for a bunch of reasons like the rushing record, Jalen Hurts not playing for a month til the playoffs start. Yet on the other hand the Eagles haven't had a bye for 12 weeks because of their early bye. I just think you have to sit them because if Hurts, AJ, Saquon or possibly Smith gets hurt they're in BIG trouble. Tough call to make.
Zay Flowers just wrecked his knee in a mostly meaningless game for Baltimore. AJ Brown was injured in week 18 in a meaning game for Philly last year and missed the playoffs.

Have to bench everybody

I think I'd let him go for it. It isn't often that a player gets a shot at a record like that. I know there's injury risk involved, but still, he's got a shot at an individual goal that's special.

Yeah man, you have to let him play. If nothing else ask him what he wants to do and tell him there's no wrong answer here.

The Rams are resting their key players, even though 3rd vs 4th seeding is still in play

And Moss’s 23 TDs broke Rice’s record that was in 12 games, and Cooper Kupp’s historic 2021 happened in a 17 game season, and all but 1 of Jefferson’s “most yard through age X season” records are happening in 17 game seasons… so why doesn’t every record ever have a big asterisk? They used to even play fewer than 12 games.

People would have made a stink about it now if he broke it, but in a couple years when 17 game seasons are more normalized it wouldn’t have mattered; “the record is the record”
Seasonal Volume records are diminished every time we add games
But its a story, and “records” are records. Not entirely meaningless, just diminished

Every league does it differently, or at least the emphasis.

  • MLB Batting champ means batting average, not total hits in season
  • However, HRs are total, not per game

  • NBA leading scorer, rebounder, etc is by average, not total points, rebounds, etc

  • But NFL Rushing is by total yards, not by average yards per game
  • Top Passer usually means Passer Rating, not Total Yards

They decide and we run with it

The Eagles haven't missed a beat without Jalen Hurts. Means he has less of an excuse not to be able to make a deep playoff run with that roster.

Exactly… The record is the record… And Barkley had like 30 something fewer carries than Dickerson.

To put it another way, if someone broke the single season home run record with fewer plate appearances, would anyone be bringing up the longer schedule lol I guess some would… Not realizing he have fewer plate appearances.

Just curious, why do they only list Jim Brown, O.J. Simpson, and Eric Dickerson? Someone had a single season rushing record before Brown… Wikipedia says it was Steve Van Buren… But he never gets mentioned?

How are the Eagles 2nd and 3rd string shutting out the Giants?
