Davis looks good early… but that much weight on his frame + wear and tear = short career IMO.
10 years? I’d put his over under at 6 years (unless he really slims down and keeps his conditioning up)
Weirdly enough, the opposite seems to be true. If a NT has the proper commitment, they often end up lasting as long or longer than smaller DTs. Seemingly The bigger the longer.
Big Ted Washington (6-5 365) started 16 games at 38
Vince Wilfork (6-2 325) started 15 games at 35
Pat Williams (6-3 320) started 16 at 38
Haloti Ngata (6-4 340) was an NFL starter until he retired at 35
Casey Hampton (325 at 6’1!) started 16 games at 35.
These are the top end examples, yes, but their size was no detriment to their ability to last in the NFL. A big part of it is likely the unique responsibilities (lack of running/diving/uninitiated contact) of the position. A guy at 6’6 should be able to carry 330-340 lbs much better than those shorter dudes
