Parcells also has little support for Williams in the secondary, and while Williams might be the best run defender at his position in the NFL, he's not so hot in coverage.

Newman Henry and Glenn would be a start...buddy

yeah between them and the Giants.

Take a look at some of the key players we have on our team and the shelf life they have. In two years our starting QB, WR, RG and LG will be history. This offense is built to win now, and poorly built in my opinion.

This kid is not a cowboys fan what so ever. IF you wanna post on here and not like the cowboys, tahts cool, just dont front like you actually like em

Eagles defense has weakened the last couple years and now with Simon gone their run stop will take a hit.

Depth wise the Eagles are weak staying above water only because of talent at key positions. If they have an injury they will fall flat on their face.

We have never matched up against the Eagles very well until this year.

Henry -> Owens
Ware -> Westbrook (screen passes the Cowboy killer)
Eagle run -> Ferguson/Glover, Spears, Williams
Eagles pass -> Henry, Newman, Glenn, Williams

I am fully confident our defense gives the Eagles fits this year. Remember the Steelers 3-4 flat out owned the Eagles last year.

I am also fully confident that we will be successful running against them.

The only thing I am unsure of is pass protection from their blitz, Bledsoe, and the passing game.

Im in agreement with you DBoys

Though i think it will be Burnett covering Westbrook and Ware chasing Mcnabb.

I know Brain, every year people probably say this is the year the eagles fall backwards....But last year i didnt even think the Cowboys had a chance agianst the eagles. The eagles were a good team that added Kearse and TO so i really thought they were going to win it all. This year i think there has been quite a bit of change and turmoil and i really think they are going to be in a dogfight a lot more so than in the past.

Their coaches are great, man i wish johnson would take a headcoaching job somewhere. They have enough key peices in place that I think they will have a good season, but i am not ready to just hand them the nfc championship or the division for that matter. i agree that injuries could really cause some problems this year as i dont think they have the depth they used to.

To be frank, you probably didn't know much about the Eagles depth beforehand when they had injuries and won anyway. Last year was an exception as nobody else in the division could put up much of a fight in the standings. Hard to believe that all three teams would turn it around too. Most likely it will be the Eagles and one other team chasing them or being chased by them.

As much as I hate the eagles I'll still say they are the team to beat in the East.

W/O a gazillion injuries we had last year, I think we would have beaten them at least once and played them close on the other. I know you are what you are but I just think the difference between teams isn't as great as a lot of people think and we have improved in almost every area. Frazier, Scott, Tucker, Johnson, Morgan, Glover, Dat Dude, VT, Barnes, all starters last year have or may be replaced. Usually when you replace somebody it's not for someone worse.

well, ive been living in philadelphia or philly suburubs my whole life so unfortunately i get/hear plenty of news on the eagles and do follow them pretty closlely.

ive been right on traget for the most part in assessing their team over the years. Im not saying they fall apart, but i think this year marks the start of a changing of the guards in the NFC.

I agree Hoov....
And many reasons support it...
They have awful chemistry...

TO is great but bad blood with McChunky spells trouble...
Yes Jim Johnson is a GREAT DC, but he has less to work with this year...Simons loss will be felt...

And, our team has been built to beat them...
I can't wait!

Truth be told my brother. But we now actualy possess a ground game. We have an adequate RCB. We have a pass rush, at least Ware appears to provide it. Davis looks ok at FS. The O Line looks better. We at least have a shot to give em a run for their money.

I dont see how with all the improvements made by us, alot of people have us at 7-9.

That doesn't really mean anything. Most Eagles fans including me didn't know what they had among their backups until they were forced to start. There is really nothing different about their depth this year than there has been in the past, other than different positions have more depth while others now do not.

I'm rarely if ever confident about anything because I am not very good at predicting what will happen. I'm much more comfortable in knowing and discussing what did happen. The Eagles may very well not win the division but I don't think its going to have very much to do with depth when compared to previous years.

I'm sure you know I am an Eagles fan Hoov. I read all your posts before I replied because I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding your uncertainty about why you think the Eagles would not be dominant in the NFC-East again this year. No disrespect fellow-Philadelphian, but your justifications are all full of holes. You're basing your responses purely on the "your-team versus my-team concept.

ok, so tell me you werent more confident with the eagles this time last year than the team you have now

Actually not. I feel better about this year's team than last. Why? While our receiver corp is made up of two rookies and one pro-bowler, I think that's a balance. RB corp has more depth now than last year; both Westbrook, T.O. and LJ Smith have better timing with McNabb. I could go On, but I'm sure you've heard it before.

Now, about my read on the article ...I enjoyed it. But it's not going to my head, because of things like "upsets" and "injuries." No one really knows, but if you look at what's in front of you right now, and what' happened Last year, closing the gap or not it looks pretty good from an Eagle's point of view.

Hell, we closed trhe gap On the Patriots, but we still lost by 3 points! Winning is the key!

Do you even like hoagies?

How does the Eagles DBs look?

Dexter Wynn and Linj Shell, are both injured right now, Robert Redd has moved to defensive back, a position he played in high school and then again in the Arena League and NFL Europe.

Look for Robert Redd in our next Pre-season; you'll hear a lot about Him real soon. With Reid likely to rest starting corners Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown in the preseason finale against the Jets Thursday night, Redd could see significant reps along with Roderick Hood, Matt Ware and Aric Williams.

CB/WR/PR Robert Redd The 5-10, 200-pound Redd saw action at defensive back in the latter stages of Friday's win over the Bengals.

"Redd was a former two-time All-MAC selection at Bowling Green. He played in four regular season games and the World Bowl in NFL Europe, and put up some nice numbers. He caught 19 passes for 203 yards, including a seven-catch, 102-yard receiving effort in the World Bowl which included a touchdown. Redd also has experience as a return man. He dabbled in it in college and averaged 6.7 yards on 31 punt returns in 2002.

Saw this article earlier and basically turned my nose up at it. Not because of the love the writer gave Philly. It's just that it's obvious this person hasn't really covered the 'Boys offseason. I mean, come on. Did anybody read this.

Guess he forgot our FA pickups in Glenn and Henry and the resurgent Newman.

The article just seems fundamentally biased in that it highlights Philly and not really give the other teams any kind of due. I have no problem with an article pumping up Philly. They've been top dawgs for awhile. I have a problem with not giving the other teams in the division more than a cursory blurb with obviously no research.

You nailed it !!! Great Point :)
