The only way to beat the eagles in my opinion is stopping McKnabb. We all hate McKnabb, and the reason is simple-He's damn good.

So the eagles are dealing now with a team who designed themselves in order to stop McKnabb.

With the 3-4, blitzes will be coming from everywhere. You will have to deal with RW a lot more this year; he'll be close to the line so watch out McKnabb.

Roy Williams- If RW gets his 'hat' on you, lights out!

Ware- BP brought this kid in to get after McKnabb. Last year, McKnabb had sometimes up to 10 seconds to throw the ball, No way this year.

Henry- Henry will beat T.O. up at the line, and you can bet he will not play off of T.O.
BP specifically brought Henry in to disrupt Owens and make it harder for T.O. to get in the route.

RW again- this time in the secondary. Owens is a tough S.O.B. but even the toughest people remember bad things. If RW is lurking back there in the secondary when T.O. comes across the middle or on a medium post, Owens will think twice.

Me personally, I think it's going to be a dangerous game to continuously throw the ball against the Cowboys secondary. You may hit a few but if you keep testing them, we will pick one or create a fumble (Ware).

The only thing I can tell you offensively, is that JJ is a year older and so is Witten. We still have a sitting duck in Bledsoe, but if you guys don't get to Bledsoe, it could be over.

I don't know why I never noticed you before Sm24 -- I like how you stand up for your position. I think I've mistaken you for Smashmouth (without the 24); the Cowboy fan.

I agree with what was said about the Eagles. I do think we have closed the gap somewhat but they are still the Cream of the Crop of the NFC East...As much as it sickens me to say such a thing. I am hoping we can steal a game from them this year and not look like high schoolers when we play them.

I'm sure you know I am an Eagles fan Hoov. I read all your posts before I replied because I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding your uncertainty about why you think the Eagles would not be dominant in the NFC-East again this year. No disrespect fellow-Philadelphian, but your justifications are all full of holes. You're basing your responses purely on the "your-team versus my-team concept.

Actually not. I feel better about this year's team than last. Why? While our receiver corp is made up of two rookies and one pro-bowler, I think that's a balance. RB corp has more depth now than last year; both Westbrook, T.O. and LJ Smith have better timing with McNabb. I could go On, but I'm sure you've heard it before.

Now, about my read on the article ...I enjoyed it. But it's not going to my head, because of things like "upsets" and "injuries." No one really knows, but if you look at what's in front of you right now, and what' happened Last year, closing the gap or not it looks pretty good from an Eagle's point of view.

Hell, we closed trhe gap On the Patriots, but we still lost by 3 points! Winning is the key!

Do you even like hoagies?

Haha, i dont eat itallian's, well itallian hoagies that is. :p:

I like pastrami, turkey, roastbeef. who doesnt like cheesteaks, but i try to keep that to a minimum. i get enough exta calories from beer, LOL.

OK seriously, back to the eagles talk. Maybe these young wr's will step it up and do enough to free TO to rack up yards and score.

But i have to disagree with you completely on the rb situation, IMO your team has westbrook (better receiver than a runner) and a rookie moats who is the same type of player and Childress has said he will have a few packages for him but dont expect to see him a lot this year. no workhorse tailback so i just dont agree with you there. If westbrook goes down the eagles will struggle regardless of who the oppoenent is.

Also, i think the eagles will be weaker in the trenches (both O line and Dline) that is going to be the thing to look for.

Tra Thomas has really had no playing or practice time, did you see him get beat repeatedly (and by the rookie pollack) against cincinatti ? He's a good player, but rusty right now and may have to play hurt.

There is no way the DLine rotation will be what it was last year.

Again this is my honest oppinion and assessment, maybe im wrong. But i do expect this year to be more competitive, last year the eagles walked through the nfc, even the playoffs looked like a breeze for them.

Well, you've said a lot. I don't know ...one hates to be too optimistic without preserving a little healthy caution as a buffer. That said, I'll leave you to your perspectives ...or is it wishful thinking?

Take a last look at our upcoming preseason game with the Jets. Between you and me, let's get back to each other on this ...look closely at the Eagles defense -- and note how many points are scored, watch the number of Jet turnover and other defensive plays that occur in the 1st and 2nd Quarter. Then, let's remember to talk about it again. Remember, after the 1st (maybe even the 2nd quarter), we're sure to start pulling out to retain health for our opener. The rest of the game will decide the 53-man roster. That's another topic of discussion.

Note: You don't like hoagies ...that's un-American! I'm just envious, they don't make hoagies and cheese steaks in Washington, DC., like they do in Philly.

i would not trade our secondary for anyone else's right now. i would not trade our RB's for anyone else's. i would not trade our TE's for anyone elses. i would not trade our crop of rookies for anyone elses. i would not trade our coach for anyone elses, or our owner for that matter.
philly's days are numbered, and they're down to double digits...

Until we knock them off, Philly is the top dog in the division. We are closing the gap some, but we still have too many question marks and I do think the Iggles have improved enough to stay ahead of us for one more year, as much as I hate to say it. If this draft is anywhere close to being as good as I think it is, we will need one more big draft and we will be right there, depending on our QB play.

Forget the jets game. the opener in Atlanta will tell a lot. Atlanta had a real good rushing offense last year. JJohnson and the eagles D game planned them real good in the playoffs, took them out of their game. This will be a good test for eagles interior of D line. Also i think Atlanta had a lot of sacks and decent pass rush so this game will also be a good test for eagles O Line.

Me too, i watch almost all the eagles games since they are the cowboys main competition right now, and i live in philly. That should be a good game to watch.

Our opener in San Diego should be a fun one too and a real good test for our run defense.
