Eagles fans lame excuse is to insult their backup QB

Eagles fans are saying crap like, "You barely beat a journeyman backup."

These are the same dirtbags who booed when Donovan McNabb was drafted. The truth is this Gardner Minshew guy is very good. I think he'll end up starting somewhere.

Minshew threw three picks ( one was dropped ) and fumbled an exchange on a handoff . Thanks Gardner.

Minshee played good. He may not be all that but the Dallas defense did not make him look good. The Eagles offensive line did. The interceptions he had were great picks by the defense.

Hurts is not a good deep ball thrower and pretty innaccurate on throws 20+ yards. He has amazing weapons this year and his guys are getting open by wide margins. He was never a great passer at Alabama either. I've watched him A LOT. Good player though, just have to contain him and he can be beat. His arm can't bail him out.

I agree with this. I just don’t agree with the narrative that minshew is a better passer than hurts or that Minshew would starter for half the teams in the NFL. If that was the case, why did it only take a 6 rounder to get him. It’s basic logic, he is a top tier back up to a very low end starter. Nothing more.

When the defense is having to cover for an underperforming offense they get tired and frustrated.
Four offensive turnovers don't help. These guys are human, and they don't play as hard when they feel they are hung out to dry. The Cowboys led in time of possession by five minutes, so the Eagles defense had to be on the field longer, without the momentum.
The Eagles defense has been exposed.

We have to control the clock and shorten the game. Keep their O on the sidelines. Reduce their amount of possessions. Which means we have to stick with the run.

The run game wasnt effective enough. Not going to score 40 running at 3 ypc. Eagles are one of the best at shutting that down.

I disagree on Min being an upgrade in the passing game. He is very average as a passer in both arm strength and accuracy. Hurts, at least this year, has been very good at both.

Hurts is a guy they give very basic play action passes with. I would not say accuracy is his strength. Reading defenses not his strength. Min has been around longer. YOu can probably do more in the passing game with Min than you can with Hurts at this stage.

although I most often agree with that, its sometimes not about total yards, but rush attempts and commitment to run, to force the defense to dedicate more defenders to be closer to the line to neutralize threat of the run, this it opens up play action and the passing game.

Cooper Rush won a couple of games because teams didn't have enough tape on him. We just played a quarterback that we had no tape on him as a Eagle. so just like teams didn't know what to expect from rush we didn't know what to expect from Minshew.

Defenses can get caught off guard in this league.

if you are consistently running at that average every game. you are right. but if you have had success running in the past, then it forces the other defense to commit to stopping the run knowing you can run the ball. for the game you might average that much because defense is focused on taking the run game away from you, almost daring you to pass the ball. you might win a game like that, but not consistently. in that regard I agree. but we ran the ball 31 times for 115. that's 3.7 YPC. lets not forget Dak was a threat running too. now, we passed for 347.....if they dropped more into coverage to take away the passing, then I bet our run game would have been better. the game was close pretty much. looked like passing offense was working. so we were not down by enough to resort to passing only and abandon the run.

Agree to disagree. Because the more film teams got on Cooper Rush the worse he played. Cowboys had basically nothing on Minshew this year... to study.

Min was directly or partially responsible for three turnovers. I think he only went deep on one pass play all day. He was absolutely no threat to takeoff and run. If Hurts plays yesterday I do not think that either of the interceptions or the botched hand off happen, and the eagles win easily. Hey I’m glad we won, but looking at the game, and everything around the game, gives me zero confidence that we can go into Philly and win.

I would love the chance to prove myself wrong though. Hopefully… Hopefully… We don’t lay an egg wildcard weekend.
