Eagles OT Lane Johnson retires

Lilely HOFer. Always played well against the Cowboys.
Definitely HOF. Maybe first ballot. Although id have to check the list of first ballot HOF OTs to compare.
I actually wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't make the hall of fame to be honest.

Just in his division alone there's 5 offensive linemen that either made the all decade team or are unanimous 1st ballot selections. That's just in his division alone

Also, due to the new Canton rules it's going to be really hard for linemen to get in. Old rules were mandatory 50 modern era selection a decade. Now it's going to be closer to 35.

Not only that the old rule of if you made the upper part of the finalist but didn't get enshrined you automatically got grandfathered to a finalist in next year's ballot is gone. You could just automatically sit as a finalist for an infinite amount of time, build momentum, and compound that with them having to select 5 guys every year meant you were essentially guaranteed to get in. That's going away your start all over voting wise which is going to hurt non skill positions.

Great player. I don't think the Cowboys defense will miss him.
I bet that GB Pecker, Parson's, probably still has nightmares about getting manhandled by big Johnson during his time in big D. Lane Johnson was a mauler 100%.

Listening to Fish now.... hes right. There is something going on in the Eagles building that made him retire. AHOF lineman and team leader didnt just roll out of bed and decide, well, Im not feeling it anymore. Im going to retire. Something more to this.

You know he does. Same with trent williams. The supposed future hall of famer that never played great against elite opposition
