If people want to play games with the numbers. That can be done in Dak’a Favor too. Since cap
Space doesn’t expire and it carries over from season to season. The cowboys have saved a lot of money on the cap the past 2 years, by paying Dak peanuts. This has allowed the cowboys to be under the cap as far as they have been, not have to restructure other players contracts and for them to carry cap space further into the future.
So when Dak signs his new deal, are we going to calculate in his yearly average, while also taking into account the past cap savings which was carried over into future years and given the cowboys more cap
Room for years to come?
Something tells me that people who don’t want Dak extended, will refuse to view it that way.
I’m no cap expert. But Wentz has cost the eagles how much so far? 22+ million? Dak has cost the cowboys how much? 4-5 million at max?
That’s a 17 million difference.
And since that cap space carries into the future in perpetuity, since cap dollars available to spend
Never expire until they are spent, that means even if Dak is making more on his next contract, that savings carries over will mean he still wouldn’t be impacting the cowboys cap as much as Wentz has and will be. Because Wentz has a 17 million head start on costing more against the eagles available
Cap space.
@Nightman any assistance on these numbers would be appreciated.
