According to WIP610, is reporting that Eagles #1 WR Reggie Brown was carted off the field in an apparent achilles injury.

I know that we should only be posting more on the Cowboys but this could effect the Cowboys because the Birds are in our division and if Brown is put on IR, the Eagles may or could use one of their 2 first round picks to get a top-flight WR.

Injuries suck...no matter to whom they occur to.

Hope it's not serious.

As far as the eagles now. Do they make a trade for a vet WR?

I wouldn't be surprised if Philly traded Lito Sheppard and a 1st round pick in 09' for Anquan Boldin. At least that's what I would do.

From what I hear-Hank Baskett is having a strong camp, and was already pushing Brown for the starting job. And for that matter too, Baskett is a tall receiver that could become a redzone threat for them.

If anything-this is probably good for the Eagles.

BTW-this needs to be in that NFC East Injuries sticky thread. Mods, could you move it there? Thanks!

I was stead fast in my belief that their was no way Lurie would or could out bid Jones for Boldin, Williams or Smith.
Even though they had more ammo, I knew it wouldn't happen.'

Now that's out the window! If one of those guys can be had the eagles MUST to do it at almost any cost!

This is in no way good for the Eagles. At the very least, it robs them of depth or weakens their position in a trade.

I hope it's not bad. Injuries suck.

Pt being that Brown was not only having another subpar camp, but he's not very good to begin with. The big reason why he's still starting is b/c Reid evaluates who should/shouldn't start by how much they're familiar with his schemes, NOT talent.

I agree-I HATE injuries, but in this case, putting Baskett in his place will probably be better for the Eagles.

Man I really wanted Baskett. He played at UNM here in Albuquerque and I watched him play. He's just a good football player. Having said that, Baskett is probably not enough. Brown, Baskett and another would be a pretty good set of receivers. If it's a rupture or tear, then that's a big deal and he's gone for most of the season, especially as a WR. They will need to get somebody, IMO. They may just anti up for one of the big name WRs out there because of this injury.

Yeah I heard Baskett is turning heads up there in Eagles camp... I wonder if they will indeed trade Shepard now.

No doubt they will go hard after a big time vet. They have Lito and draft picks to barter.

Remember last year when they said how McNabb made a *quick* recovery from his knee injury? Jeremiah Trotter slimmed down and was ready to have a gangbusters season? Tony Hunt picked up the playbook quickly and took alot of reps with the first team? Jeremy Bloom was primed to be their first KR stud?

Yeah-the Philly sports media are not only cheerleading homers, but they do a darn good job creating an illusion on alot of things.(Unlike our media, which is objective at best, but very negative at worst)

They ARE very good at it, I'll give them that(even I fall for alot of things they say every year).

Yet another WR I wanted to sign but no matter. They have Curtis, a very young Baskett and really nobody else. If the injury is anything other then a simple strain, then I dont' think they can afford to stand pat at WR. One injury and there offense is seriously comprimised IMO. They have Westbrook, Smith and Curtis but I think they have to have another WR that can produce. Just Curtis, in his second year in this offense, is not enough IMO. I guess we'll see.

they needed another wr even with brown. Aikman called reggie brown a 3 or a 4 last year who didnt improve from year to year.

the thing is, other teams are not willing to just send gamebreakers to an already powerful team.

maybe they get roy williams now. they have ammo and what detroit most likely wants.

I agree Theebs. I could definatly see that happening in light of this latest injury.
