Is it too late to edit that? And Kevin Smith was a lickdown corner until his achilles(?) Injury
What do you know about.Larry Allen is the greatest offensive linemen of all time...not just guard. Put some respect on Larry's name.
If Jimmy stayed for 94, Erik Williams probably wouldn't have had the car wreck.Them the good Ole days....
If we kept Jimmy and there was no cap how many SBs could we have won?
For the younger generation here at CZ I just wanted tell some 'war stories'.
In the early nineties the Cowboys had multiple players that could be featured on youtube videos completely dominating much like the videos of Micah Parsons.
- Emmitt: Juked defenders out of their jock on a routine basis.
- Aikman: Probably the most accurate QB in history.
- To his WRs "Do you like the ball at the top, middle or bottom of your Jersey number...
- Irvin: Perfect route running and bullied DBs.
- Erik Williams: Pre car-wreck as good or better than any OT ever. Mean & nasty.
- Charles Haley: Has 5 Super Bowl rings. NFC player of the year twice in his career.
- Darren Woodson: The team was so stacked in 92 that he only started 2 games.
- He could play any position from Nickel CB to LB.
- Ken Norton Jr: The best Cowboys LB (non 3-4 OLB) since 93 until Parsons arrived.
- Larry Allen: Only Super Bowl was 95 but un-disputed most dominant OG ever.
- Daryl Johnston: His picture is probably in the dictionary next to the word Fullback.
- They had backups that were better than most Cowboys starters from the past 2 decades.
- Leon Lett: Aaron Donald type quickness on a 6-6 300+ frame.
- Chad Hennings: Reported to have benched 600 pounds. Brick wall vs the run.
- Jimmie Jones: Would be a starter on this year's team.
- Jim Jeffcoat: A backup in 92 & 93. Has 102.5 career sacks.
Are cocaine and a touch of insanity weaknesses?Compare Thomas Hollywood Henderson’s athleticism to Parsons
As a Lb...returned a kickoff for a td...
Off the charts size, speed..
But...had a weakness
Stepnoski…. Absolute technician at C. High IQ and leveraged near perfect technique at the position. Does not get enough love and respect for his work
mr xwalker--love the pre- car wreck Erik Williams one of the best tackles of all time my opinion...and just think if we did not have free agency introduced in 1993...we could have kept a "core" where 5 super bowls in a row not out of possiblity....and 5 victories in those 5 super bowls....totally achievable
Kenny Gant was a special teams demon. He was called the shark because he used to form a shark fin with his hands prior to kickoff coverage. Saw him play in person in 1995 in Arizona. We also won the SB that year...
Good point. My post was primary focused on players that were on the 92/93 teams but I had to include Larry Allen despite not being on the team until 94.So we just going to skip over Primetime...... whether people like him or not he was a Dallas Cowboy and helped beat Pittsburg in the Superbowl...... not just on defense but offense and as a returner
He was one of the strongest players on the team with regards to weight room strength.mr Hawkeye--loved Step...only weighed 250 lbs...but such a technician one of the best centers for 3 years in NFL
All great points. Deion was just on another level, just like Larry was on the OL.Good point. My post was primary focused on players that were on the 92/93 teams but I had to include Larry Allen despite not being on the team until 94.
I still say that Deion was one of it not the most unique athletes in history.
There has never been anybody with his type of athleticism.
I'm not saying that he was necessarily the greatest athlete ever, but the most unique of the great athletes.
Jordon is regarded as the greatest basketball player because he combing extreme athletic ability with uber elite skill.
- However, there have been similar pure athletes pass through the NBA. They just didn't have Jordon's skillset.
Deion's athletic ability was far more than just speed.
- His body control while running full speed is unmatched.
- His ability to stop and reverse directions while running full speed is also unmatched.
- The top thing that I look for in CB draft prospects is how long is takes them to stop and reverse directions against comeback routes.
I get chills when watching interviews and video reviews of Micah Parsons. Not even sure the point of this thread besides wanting to talk about the 90s team?
He was my idol and turned out to be a great guy....I'm proud to say I've had some private conversations with him and he's the real deal.
It's nice when you meet these guys and they turn out to be regular folk.....I had a similar incident with John Dutton....he came over to my table and brought a pitcher of beer and two mugs....we were in South Padre Island....we ran into Michael Irvin at the Riverwalk..he had a couple of body guards....one of my assistants asked to meet him, when Michael found out we were football coaches, he invited us into his VIP section.......we need to start an off topic to share all if the stories we have as fans. Salud!Yep, we were having dinner on a quiet patio and Randy was there with his wife.
I've crossed paths with many local Pro athletes but I try to avoid bothering them.
When he walked past our table I just said "Mr. White, I'm a big fan".
- He then sat down at our table and talked for several minutes.
- He said "Call me Randy. Mr. White is my Dad".
- Later when we were walking out, he called us over to his table and introduced us to his wife.
- Literally the nicest guy I've even met.
