Dunbar and Beasley suck at returning. Lucky is at least ok.

Beasley is safe in returning punts. It's not pretty, but it's safe.

He's 28th in the league in yards.

In retrospect, we've lacked a dynamic return man [except Harris] for a while.

Lucky isn't good enough to be the full time punt returner. And that's the only reason he is here. Any pressure situation you will see Beasley fair catching punts bc Lucky is so undisciplined they can't trust him to hold on to the ball. Flashbacks of McFadden returning kicks intrigues me.

I forgot about Dax Swanson. He had some pretty good returns in preseason. I remember Lucky was considered on the bubble during camp, and probably solidified his spot getting that TD on the kickoff from the Rams. Pretty disappointing he hasn't done it in the regular season.

http://www.scout.com/nfl/cowboys/story/1736729-in-a-snap-what-cowboys-lucky-did-wrong

There is nothing inherently or automatically "wrong'' with what Lucky Whitehead did at 10 p.m. or at 2 a.m. or at 3 a.m. on the eve of the Dallas Cowboys' trip to New York for this 11-1 team's biggest game of the season. There is nothing inherently wrong with a steak dinner with a few teammates or with a couple of drinks with friends or with an Uber ride with a female acquaintance or, even, with advertising all these events on social media.

What is wrong with what Whitehead did on Friday night is how it impacted Saturday morning.

Sources tell me that Lucky followed up his partying non-curfew night out with a failure to appear at The Star in Frisco for a series of scheduled Saturday morning meetings that started with the usual special-teams session in the 7 o'clock hour and continued throughout the morning with the team worriedly searching for the absent receiver/return specialist, at one point enlisting law-enforcement officials to search for the player one source told me deserved to be labeled as "AWOL.''...

Beasely will be his replacement. So. I'm not really happy about this lol

Sometimes I don't think people realize that one thing he does for us is take all of the shots when returning the ball. Do we really want our stars taking them? They will get hurt of worn down faster if they do.

Ian Rapoport says he's missed a lot of meetings. That's disappointing, if true. Lucky saw all the flack Dez got for that earlier this season, and he sees how serious Dak and Zeke are.

Fumbling doesn't add to the job description of a returner as well...

If true, should be cut asap

No, he isn't. He's a one trick decoy who seldom actually touches the ball. But again, he wears the uniform so some fans will automatically overvalue him and believe that we just can't live without him.

And not only does he not do much well, he does things poorly. He dances around on his punt returns and gets pulled from the game, he fumbles when he does actually touch the ball, and now he misses curfew and meetings.

A player who contributes so little is "lucky" to be in the league. But instead of realizing that, he'd rather squander his opportunity. Just like 3 other players did, two of whom are no longer here, and one who has one foot out the door.
There are about 10 to 15 guys that do absolutely nothing on the team. He actually caught a ball in a pivotal moment in a game that could have assisted us in winning that game. He takes the load off of the major offensive and defensive players not getting hurt by returning punts, and he's on the field on offense a lot. We both don't like the fumble, or the way he returns kicks but he's out there for a reason. You need plug n play guys on your team. Cheap labor so to speak. Now during the off season, they may or may not keep him but for now, he's needed. People also want Escobar gone but the guy plays a role on this team, this year. But by all means, go ahead and cut all the guys on the team you don't like, let's see how ow we replace those guys.

Between the poor decisions on returning punts and kicks to the fumble last week, it doesn't matter if he stays or not to me.

Any one know what he did? Really not looking forward to seeing Cole take punts.
