I read that as a play caller, his defenses statistically were good.

However, I see his scheme as too much like Marinelli where he rarely blitzes and the run defense is suspect against teams that really want to run (struggled against the Titans rushing when he was the Colts DC).
Marinelli had no problem stopping the run elsewhere when he had good players. Think the Bears.
The problem in Dallas is we haven’t run out two good DTs that can give the OL fits in years. Contrary to what many believe, you don’t need a 1 tech. You just need two good tackles. No one had success running on the 280 lb Aaron Donald. None of Dallas’s famed defenses in the 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s had any big 1 techs, but they all had 2 and sometimes 3 good penetrating DTs.

He doesn’t blitz at all and this is a blitzing leak these days because of all the passing you need to put pressure on the quarterback in any way imaginable see Dan Quinn, and why he’s one step away from the Super Bowl.

This guy is as outdated as Brian Schottenheimer’s tight zone offense.

Arron Donald had the likes of Ndamukong -Suh,.. A'Shawn Robinson, ..Michael Brockers , noted run defenders.

He had solid DT play. In 2020, they have DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart clogging the middle.

He also had prime Darius Leonard which could be the Overshown role. He is also familiar with Malik Hooker.

Informative. Eberflus had some DTs with size.
I would think Eberflus would like almost all of the guys that have been mentioned as the Top DT’s this year - seems to be a group of guys with both size and athleticism. The smallest of the Top Tier guys seems to be the Sanders kid from SC @ a listed 290-295. All the other guys seem to comfortably be over 305. This draft seems to line up perfectly with those guys at the top that could be both 1T/3T and more traditional 1T’s (like Tonia from UCLA and Pegues from Ole Miss) that could be available early Day 3 to PAIR with the early guys. HOPEFULLY, the scouting department knows this. Honestly wouldn’t mind if they somehow got the Ole’ Miss duo…Pegues measured in @ 6’2”, 323 w/ 33+” arms at the Shrine. I’m guessing Nolen will be about 6’3”, 305-310 w/ around 33” arms as well.

Love the approach.
