Ed Werder say Romo may miss a game or two

One of the reasons our run game has been so unstoppable is because teams fear our QB and receivers. They have to fear our passing game.

Defenses can now cheat on their run defense big time, and dare Weeden to beat them.

Our coaches have to be able to put Weeden into a position to do that.

They have been cheating anyway, stacking 8 in the box and they still have not stopped us.

One thing for sure when Romo hangs it up he's gonna have one gimpy*** post football life.

No, it's not certain.

He hasn't had significant joint injury or concussion history, and he does not have degenerative arthritis or degenerative disc disease in his back.

He may have a fairly normal later life.

I was just thinking this yesterday....it is going to be sad to see how bad off Romo is going to be physically in his later years. I Also worry about addiction to pain killers a'la Brett Favre.
This was one of the things I was talking about. At some point, you have to think about the person and not this silly game. And he has to think about his family, and being up right when it's time to move on from this game. I still suffer from knee pains from a bad cut I made playing football 17 years ago. Imagine what a back could/would be like.

Aikman kept playing after concussion after concussion after concussion. I hope as time goes on, he's not affected.

We can win with Weeden. I can live with sitting Romo for the next two weeks. Let his body heal and come back healthy for the stretch run after the bye.

I honestly think that if Weeden steps in, things will be okay. He has much more to utilize here in Dallas than he did with the Browns.

Orton stepped in last year and the offense pretty much continued to do its thing. They lost, but they were still in the game the entire time.

Yea, that's all I was trying to say.

He just has to do enough to keep the defense honest, and keep them guessing.

Hopefully, then, ... with the running game working, he won't have to win the game himself.

If he needs to do that, we are in trouble.

Agreed. He just needs to be efficient and help out so that the run game can carry us to the W's while Romo is out, if he has to be out.

I think Romo goes this Sunday if at all possible. We sure can't afford for all 3 of our losses to be against NFC teams. We're already a game behind Philly for the divisional tiebreaker.

I was one of the guys in the game day thread wanting Romo to come back in, until I saw him negotiating with the Doctors. If you have to do that, you're not well. Then when he came in, he continued to take hits, it's just irresponsible of the staff to do that to any person.
I really wish we had looked at the back up QB position, it's too important especially when your starter has a really bad back situation. As for Weeden, he will be game-planned for if he has to go, then we get to see what he's all about.

If he has to go, just go with the play that's called. Don't change up too much, and locate your target and get the ball out fast. That's my non professional advice for this young man.

Well said indeed;)

If Romo can't play that will actually FORCE the stupid coaches to go back to the RUN which is what we should and must do REGARDLESS of the who is the QB. However, our coaches OVER UTILIZE Romo way too often (past seasons) and forget the runs (except this year and the last game).

I couldn't agree more. That said, I would have liked to have seen some bunch formations like Denver uses and let their rookie corners fight through the garbage on a quick throw to Dez,.. Or a fake throw to the bunch and toss to a RB on the other side leaking away from protection. I thought that was what we were saving Dunbar for.

Not worried about his pain tolerance. He's proven time and time again that he can deal with the pain. My concern is his effectiveness, and the possibility of further damage. Can Weeden do as good as Romo at Romo's best? No! Does he need to with the weapons he's being provided? Not necessarily. We just have to hang on to the ball, both rushing. receiving, and kick returning. Eliminate mistakes, and the offense still clicks, IMO!
