Yeah, it's a false sense of security I think. We see our OL so dominant in the run game and we see Tony playing well against teams who have to account for a balanced offense and it's easy to fool yourself. I said this last year and earlier in the season. Tony's health is not going to get better. It's going to steadily get worse. Is that something that prevents us from winning? Not at all. All you need do is watch Elway and Denver in the 90s. Elway was not nearly the QB, physically, he was earlier in his career during Denver's run in the 90s but they won. They won because Shannahan and that staff managed the game for Elway. They used a dominating running attack, good defense and much more field position type game plan to win games. They limited Elway and used him when it was to the advantage of the Offense and Elway.
Tony is only going to get worse, over time. We can augment that by being smarter in how we use him and what we ask him to do but there is no question, we will need another QB option sooner rather then later. We, IMO, would be wise to take a good one when the opportunity presents itself IMO. This game is about the game, it's not about a player. The game lasts, the players come and go. Every player knows this. If a player doesn't understand this, then they are not paying attention. We should not be fearful of taking a good QB if the opportunity presents itself IMO.
