There are A LOT of fans who absolutely love Roy W. with blind regard and it is understandable. The guy has made some cataclysmic plays but he get's burned in pass coverage more than he does not. He needs to be converted to linebacker. It's simple as that. He would do fine in that position IMO. We need safeties who can play the pass more than we need safeties who can play the run in a 3-4 defense. He's just a very below-avg pass coverer and it's not hard to see. He cancels out his play because of it and definitely does not justify his contract. With that being said, I like the guy but I blame the coaches for putting him in these poor positions over and over knowing what they are going to get from Roy in coverage.....its just pathetic.

Don't go overboard. I will say that Roy sucks in coverage against guys going deep, but if you play him at ILB he would dominate. I do like Elam, so I agree there, but do NOT remove him from the defense all together.

In coverage, he gave up a crucial penalty, but in the running game, he was stopping fools left and right behind the line of scrimmage.
