I'm still waiting for one of you fools to say something intelligent like:

"He hasn't defended a pass in the NFL"
RW is going to the Hall Of Fame, Elam can't replace a legend"
Go on.

Yeah those 2 are pretty good reasons, and nearly everybody besides Cowboy fans think he is a good safety. How about pro bowls, or how about game changing plays. There is some more for you. Seriously dude Elam is no where near Roy.

ILB or OLB?
Which did you mean?
ILB in the 3-4, OLB in the 4-3. If he's too small, then keep him at SS unless we go into the nickel. When we go into the Nickel, he becomes an ILB. But he has to be on the field, he can make plays!

gotta disagree.
you ain't seeeing theraw talent Elam has..JUST LOOK AT THE pre season TAPES.

he HITS hard when he NEEDS to...DEFENDS the pass when he NEEDS to.

Elam is Roy W "under control".

Trust Fearless Fern!

I was very very impressed with Elam and his play in pre-season. Always around the ball, and making bone crushing hits.

Nope. In the 3-4,i say you got to put Roy in place of Ellis. Ellis replaces akindoyle, Ellis being on the same side as Roy. Roy needs to be outside for the limited pass coverage. He can cover the short passes.

in the 4-3 again put Roy outside, he can tackle, rush or defensd the short passes.

Elam defends the long ball alot better and he gives big hits too...put Elam at Roy's SS spot.

Book it.

Book what? If you put RW at OLB he will be destroyed, remember he has to go up against 6'6 330 pd tackles, that won't work.

TRUST ME!
I know talent!
RW is best suited for OLB.

I am not in favor of benching Roy Williams, but I have often thought of putting him at linebacker, where he can cover a TE or a back out of the backfield.

If you make Roy a linebacker, then you have to move back to the 4-3, or have him playing in the nickel exclusively.

at OLB Roy will do fine...OLB's duties are to contsin the play, not to let it go outside. he can hold his own outside...he's done it a few times already.

If he goes INSIDE..he's cooked.

I'll agree to disagree here, because when you have Ellis and Ware struggle sometimes to fight off tackles and tight ends on wide runs, you can almost imagine what will happen to a guy that's 35 to 40 pounds lighter.

Roy is a good wrap up tackler as well as a hitter, kind of like a smaller Ray lewis. His quickness and toughness and COVERAGE on the SHORT passes make him the best candidate at OLB.

Roys quickness will save him from being overrun by linemen pulling.

i am going to find some tape of Roy playing up at the line I will get back to you.

The point is, if you want him to play that position in a 4-3 he will thrive, but not in a 3-4 unless he's planning on gaining a bit more weight. That extra biscuit
