ELI TAKES A JAB AT ROMO

Posted by Mike Florio on December 30, 2008, 7:38 p.m.
One year removed from Tony Romo’s much-publicized Mexican bye-week vacation, Giants quarterback Eli Manning dusted off memories of that incident by taking a jab at Romo.
Asked during a media conference call if he has plans to fly to San Diego (where he surely is always welcome) for the playoff game involving his brother, Peyton, Eli Manning said, “No, no, no plans. My plans to Cabo fell through, so I am going to sit here. That is a joke, by the way.”
Romo was criticized heavily for his trip to Cabo San Lucas in the days before preparations commenced for an eventual divisional loss to the Giants.

Leave him alone. It's not easy being that ugly.
The only down syndrome QB to win a superbowl!:D

Well he looks like it anyway.

I hope he dies.

Ok, I'm sorry, that was a little harsh. Maybe just loses his hand in an industrial accident.

Romo's going to have to get used to the ribbing until he strings together some meaningful wins late in a season -- including, namely, at least one playoff win.

Not to harp too much on that Cabo stuff again, but I don't fault Romo for going. Like someone said here last night, I fault him for allowing it to become so publicized. Maybe that was Jessica's doing, but it still falls back on him. It was a PR nightmare and something the team didn't need heading into that game.

I love how all the Giants fans jumped on the Eli bandwagon thanks to a Super Bowl and a mediocre season statistically. Does anyone not remember his numbers the previous seasons!!???!? Now he's a big shot with the Super Bowl ring under his belt. Eli really just needs to go play in traffic! We'll be having the last laugh in the playoffs when he FAILS miserably.

I am glad Eli said this. I hope Romo heard this as well. Eli just went along for the ride to the Super Bowl ring he got. It ain't like he carried the team like his brother does the Colt's. Thanks for the comments Eli, it will only help motivate Romo all the more.

You dont have to tell me about that. I am from the NJ Meadowlands area and you wouldnt believe the crap they siad about Eli before that SB win. Now he is the greatest QB they ever had. All the talk now is about Brett and the Jets.

A Cowboys fan from NJ? YES...there are alot of us here..lol. We pack the upper seats in Giants Stadium every year.

I live here in Oklahoma and have never really been around Texas but for the last couple years and last season I went to my first game.... God forbid that it was in January in the playoffs... We all know how that went! But anyways, the best sound I have ever heard in my life was the constant booing of Eli during warmups and pre-game! Loved it!

I'd take a Super Bowl ring and a No. 1 seed with a bye the following season over nice statistics any day and twice on Sundays, thank you.

I'm sure Eli will let Romo have all the stats he wants so long as he continues to pile up the rings.

Brady did the same thing, and so, too, did our very own Troy Aikman.

Sure, but I wasn't getting at the fact that Eli was ineffective. I was saying that he is not the "Savior" that Giants fans seem to portray him now that he won a Super Bowl. That team isn't built around Eli. But yes, 1 seed is real nice right now!

The difference between Eli and Romo is that Eli will only go as far as the team can carry him. Eli's career high for TD passes in a single season is still 2 TD passes fewer than Romo's worst season. Eli's career avg per pass attempt is 6.8, Romo is 8.1.

The big difference between a Super Bowl ring for Eli is that his team carried him to the win, if Romo gets a Super Bowl ring, it will be Romo that carries this team to that win and he will get the MVP. Eli can laugh now, but if we do get Shanahan, Romo will get the last laugh.
