Again, Stats. STATS STATS STATS.

Eli Manning has turned into a pretty good QB. He was money in the post season last year and he's been great this year. Here's a stat for you: tell me who has more turnovers?

What did Romo do? For all his stats, he choked away yet another chance (albeit with a lot of help) for Dallas to make some noise in the post-season for the first time in a decade.

You can throw out stats all you want, but the fact of the matter is its kinda hard to compare two guys that play in different offensive systems and say one is better than the other one based on numbers alone.

Face it. Eli is on his way up. Romo, on the way down. If you honestly say you'd rather have Romo than Eli at this point, you are a fool. Eli will be playing in his 4th straight post-season and is helping his team defend their NFL TITLE.

Mr. Simpson is sitting at home cuddling with Jessica on the couch.

yeah, just along for the ride, alright.

manningstats2007.gif

guess who that is. Hint: It ain't Tonya Romo.

You can keep your friggin' stats. The only stat I care about is WINS.

And Romo has a complete idiot and cream puff for a head coach., as where Eli has a real head coach. If you really think Romo is on his way down and Eli on his way up, that is your choice. But if Jerry makes the big move and names Mike Shanahan the new coach of this team, I will guarentee you after Shanahan is done with Romo, Romo will be headed to the Hall of Fame and nobody will even remember Eli.

Call it blind homerism or whatev, but if you seriously put unbiased thought about this, you would realize Romo clearly is a more gifted athlete and QB than Manning. Right now, the only difference is the mental game. Once Romo gets that down, Eli will be a complete and total joke compared to Romo. I can guarentee you put Eli behind our sorry offensive line and he would get sacked at least 50 times as opposed to the 20 times Romo got sacked this year.

Right now, all Romo needs is a strict coach who will get Romo to get his act together. All the great things Shanahan did for Elway were when I was just a very, very little kid, but any football fan knows that Shanahan is a legend. A legend that would be the perfect fit to get Romo to live up to his talent and potential.

I can go back and forth with you on this, but I will leave it at this, if Jerry is smart enough to name Shanahan as the new coach, the Cowboys will have a real good chance at being the first team to win 6, and will be the first team to win 7. And Romo will be the QB that gets it done. If we get Shanahan, a few years down the road, I will expect a personal apology from you via PM. Just like if this happens, I will personally write a letter of apology to Jerry Jones.

The homerism on this thread is shameful, stupid, & pathetic.
It just reeks of desperation to consistently argue something
so fricken' obvious!
Right now, today, right this minute, Eli is better than Romo.
To even attempt to argue that fact, borders on the insane.

Throw up all the stats, bring up Dilfer, etc etc.-
but whatever you homers do, please mention at the end
that Eli has something that Romo doesn't!
A FRICKEN RING!!
And as Bill Parcells once said;
"The best thing about being a champion is that they can
NEVER take it away from you.
EVER"!!

You guys just look silly, & are in complete denial.
Please stop...you're embarassing yourselves!:bang2:

Eli's ugly as hell but that was funny. The whole league is laughing at Romo & the Cowboys and I don't blame them.

This is the same silly logic that would deem quarterbacks like Eli, Dilfer, and McMahon a better quarterback than Dan Marino.

Sure you want to use that?

The only people who look silly are those who say Eli Manning is a better quarterback than Tony Romo, since all they have to support their argument is a team accomplishment.

I love how all the Giants fans jumped on the Eli bandwagon thanks to a Super Bowl and a mediocre season statistically. Does anyone not remember his numbers the previous seasons!!???!? Now he's a big shot with the Super Bowl ring under his belt. Eli really just needs to go play in traffic! We'll be having the last laugh in the playoffs when he FAILS miserably.

I agree with this. While you can make serious arguments about which quarterback is less likely to make game-killing mistakes under pressure, to say that Manning is better than Romo solely because he has a ring is telling me that you also like Boss over Witten, McQuarters over Newman, Blackburn over Ware, and I guess I could list 50 others on the Giants team that are better than their counterparts on the Cowboys. Makes no sense. I understand their argument, and have no problems saying the NYG are a better *team* than the Cowboys, but the reasoning behind the argument is unsound. Or at least, falls apart when you start looking at this as a team sport.

I could be wrong, but I think the quote was more aimed at the media for asking dumb questions and less at Romo. Inadvertantly it was a jab at Romo though.

And for all you who say you can't stand Eli, like it or not he is 3 wins away from being a possible HOFer.

Eli vs Romo is do you want highlights or do you want continuity. Before this year I would have said Romo, easily. I am still stinging so I can't answer now but this year was a tough pill to swallow from all players. This is the worst season for me as a fan in a long long time. I'll gladly take 5-11 with Quincy over this year..

~GiGGle~ Wow!. A personal letter of apology from you to J.J. - How inspirational that would be. You are going to put too much pressure on J.J. and Shanahan before we even hire him. Please don't scare him away. He may be our last chance at a Lombardi this decade.

I cant believe there are still people arguing about this.

Well, no argument there.

Hahahahahaahahahahaha. Even if that happened, Eli Manning has a long career ahead of him and has been to the postseason 4 times in 5 seasons and won a superbowl, and he's going to have several more shots in the post season at another NFL championship. No matter what Romo does, Eli Manning will be remembered.

Are you serious? Do you even watch football?

Eli Manning has every physical QB advantage over Romo. He has a stronger arm, he's bigger, stronger, has better mechanics, better footwork, has a quicker release, and is faster. There's a reason this guy was the first overall pick and Romo was an UFA. The only advantage Romo has on Eli is mobility.

More gifted athlete and QB my eye.

And that "only difference" mental game, well, that's a pretty big part of playing QB.

The only "complete and total joke" right now is that people even have the balls to compare Romo with Eli. There is no comparison.

Eli Manning now is a better QB in every way, shape, and form. He's better physically and mentally. He has a better attitude and his approach to the game is leaps and bounds better than Tonya "not now I gotta go shoot a spot for espn and meet with my tailor" Romo.

I'm sure Eli was just joking and I'm sure Romo has a sense of humor more so than many around here.

I think it was pretty funny as well, but something tells me that Romo in his current state probably did not. Maybe that is not such a bad thing for him to get dissed by a QB that has won a ring and is still playing for another.

I think many around here get bent out of shape more than the players do about these types of things. I doubt Romo is ranting and raving about what Eli said in joking.

I agree with Doomsday: Romo couldn't care LESS. As a matter of fact, he's probably back in Cabo right now with Jessica rubbing him down. Yeah, he's real concerned about that. But then, that's the whole question isn't it? HE's apparently turned into the exact thing Parcells warned him about: a celebrity QB. He's got the celebrity part down, now about being a good QB................
