Even Eli, Flacco and Foles played like elite QBs when needed. Foles threw for almost 400 yards in the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl. Flacco threw for 11 TDs and 0 INTs in their playoff run. Eli made some big-time throws to outplay Brady in the clutch...no average spare QB could have done that.

With Eli and Flacco, they were both 1st round QBs that had all the physical tools of a franchise QB. Their careers may not have been elite but on any given day, they could still show up and make elite throws when needed.

No matter what your stance is with anything in life, you can't make a logical argument by leaving out/ignoring facts that don't pertain to your narrative. No respectable person will take you seriously.

I refuse to believe whatever is going on with Dak at the moment is permanent. The dude was playing as well as any QB in the game until the calf injury. I think what ails him now is part physical and part mental. I think the calf is probably mostly healed but probably still sends a "hey I'm still here pal" signal to him a few times a game. Because I have strained a calf multiple times in my life I can tell you they can and will linger for months if you don't shut it down completely for 4-5 weeks. The other aspect of it is the line frankly is just stinking around him right now. He's not sure of what the hell he's getting in terms of protection. I think some of the hits he's taken has gotten his eyes down to seeing the rush.. I think he's seeing the rush and not down the field as well as he was early on and then in turn he's having to run out of the pocket on way too many drop backs. This is not something you want a guy with a balky wheel doing all the time. I do think he should take heart from those two big time runs late in the game. That is ALL he needs to do to close the gap between where he needs to be and where he is.. Getting those first downs is huge for the offense. Keeps drives alive.. Scares the defense that he might do it again.. He does that then I think this offense gets back on track.

I agree. So the only anomalies this century would be Trent Dilfer and Peyton Manning at the Broncos.

I don't even have to look it up to state that I would wager that if you looked at all these "elite" QBs during their championship runs you will find some crappy performances.. Brady 's three second half picks against Green Bay leaps immediately to mind.. or his 150 yard passing performance in the Super Bowl against the Rams .. And let's not even talk about Peyton Mannings borderline anemic performance in his last Super Bowl.. Sorry if it bothers people to hear it but it takes a whole team to win a championship. Acting like it's just one guy is just plain lazy and I will not do it. Ever.

That's 21 years of Super Bowls, and those that will likely make the Hall of Fame make up 17 of those wins.

Two of those non-great QBs Nick Foles and Joe Flacco played great Super Bowls. Both were named Super Bowl MVP.

Agree, up to the NE game, he was in the discussion for MVP! So something is just not right.

The good news is we've seen QBs fight through these slumps and come out the other end.. Mahomes early this year.. Remember several seasons Rodgers has gone through it.. Brady had a stretch this year when he was way off. Herbert stunk for 3-4 games in a row. People act as if guys just roll through the season getting a 120 passer rating every game. It doesn't work that way.. for anybody.. Dak included.. I don't like how he is playing right now but I have every confidence that a grinder like Dak will figure it out.

Good call. You may not be career elite.....few are. But if you just get on a roll. Play well. Make a few elite plays. Count on your team. You can win one.
I'm not sure where dak is at the moment.

Exactly this...QB's have bad games every year, some here not all but some were waiting on it so they could come back to posting, others get it, he needs to get it fixed as does the rest of the offense but by no means does this slump define him....they will fix and roll into the playoffs.

That just ignores how well the Bucs defense played last year on their playoff run or how Von Miller carried Peyton Manning who was a shell of himself vs the Panthers.

Complete teams win Super Bowls, otherwise, Rodgers, Brees, etc would have been there more often.

I would not ever consider Eli elite.
He was always middle of the pack or slightly better his whole career and even led the NFL in picks a few times.
Not awful, and sometimes even really good.....but certainly not elite.

And before anyone says he "always steps up in the playoffs", please reconsider.
Not true
He led the league in one and done playoff runs to go with those two magical SB runs
He was an almost unimaginably bad playoff QB other 1 1/2 playoffs runs.

Although Flacco is considered not a great QB now. He had the GOAT performance ever for a QB in the playoffs that year.

That Ravens defense gave up over 30 points twice in those playoffs during that Super Bowl run.
That was the epic lightning in a bottle.
Then he cashed in....lol
I think he had something like 11 TDs and 0 ints

Yeah. People think that Ravens defense was great because they were known for good defenses, but it wasn't like those early 2000s Ravens defenses. Flacco just went off lol

It just stands to reason. With a salary cap, you can't make up the difference in team talent if your QB isn't as good as your opponent's. Rookie contracts plays a role too. Or someone like Brady with a 10 million dollar cap hit trying to stack the deck in his favor.

One more thing. Wilson was not elite when Seattle won the SB. The defense was.

I don't care what anyone tells me. I don't care if he is a first ballot hall of famer. But Eli is not elite.

Hell play well again probably this week then most of these blowhards won’t be heard from till he struggles again but I’m a bit concerned what it may be
