The .500 records were the exact same things. I didn't suggest the teams were identical, but we were talking about results.

My 'cheerleader' reference was in regards to Risen saying the same thing before invoking Bill Parcels. I was pointing out the irony.

Either way, I'm not calling you names here, and I accept your arguments for what they are. I actually don't make excuses. If you're being 100% honest, you know there are areas of the team and the organization I think are responsible for the losses. We might not agree on what those areas are, but that doesn't mean I'm making excuses.
At the end of the day, even if Garrett was fired last year, who would we have brought in? The pickings at HC are slim. Not to mention, the nepotism alone means we wont be seeing a new coach for a very very long time. A losing season this year and i can almost guarantee JG will be HC next season.

God forbid that someone not be happy with mediocrity... Especially when I'm investing thousands of dollars a year into the team.
I'm a ST holder as well. I plan on selling most of my tickets this year. I'm deciding on an away game for us to go to. They are more fun. I kind of want to see the Vikings' new stadium.

They organization likes him. He's smart and organized and works well with all the principals. The players love him, the staff loves him. It's just the fans who don't, and they don't because the team hasn't won more games. If you're the owner and you think you know why the team hasn't won more games, and the reason in your mind isn't the HC, then you're going to keep the guy around.

Really? Garrett's had lesser numbers.

With the luxury of a Too 10 quarterback as well, where Parcells had Quincy Carter and a few retreads on their last legs because the cupboard was bare thanks to Jerry's 'deals'.

Fact of the matter is that without Romo................both Jones and Garrett get exposed for exactly what they are:

Jones is a 1-11 GM and Garrett is a 1-11 coach.

You are missing out on the 3 most important things that Garrett is definitely NOT:

1. He is not a disciplinarian that motivates and gets every ounce out of his players (this has nothing to do with giving up or not)
2. He is NOT a "football guy". Likeable organizer/yes man, but that is about it
3. He does NOT have the influence on Jerry Jones that we need here in Dallas. Jimmy and Parcells types ONLY work in Dallas. Football minds that Jerry respects and demand his ear.

And again I would question your standards if you are happy with having Jason Garrett as your coach.

It's hard to keep a level head about this season. Injuries, suspensions, and a lack of team discipline could kill us this year. Doesn't have anything to do with Zeke's hammy I just think it's the feeling a lot of us are getting.

True, myself I'm optimistic on the season. I don't claim it as a sure thing and know all that could go wrong. I just think this team will come out more determined than ever after the disappointment that was 2015. Most of these guys know they are capable of putting together a very good season and if we can manage to stay relatively healthy at some key spots I think they can have a very successful season

Everybody is thinking it.it could be the end of Romo and Garrett if Romo can't finish the season.

I don't know why, one of the top priorities the Cowboys had this off season was to get a legitimate backup QB.........oh wait........nevermind.

Im startin to get that to...feels like another one of those 8-8 years.....which technically would be "good" compared to last year....but no thanks......still early though.....

What's worse, IMO...is that we could somehow go 10-6 and that could be the worst thing for us in terms of the organization's future. But, I tend to see this as a disastrous season at this point.

I think the people who are hammering Garrett today would also have hammered him for going 36-30 with the same team Parcells had. And anybody who defended Garrett at that time would have probably been accused of being a "homer" who is satisfied with mediocrity.

The team went 10-6 with Quincy Carter under center. With Better quarterbacks Parcells finished at 9-7 his last 2 years. I don't get what was so great about his tenure here.
Again, Garrett would be criticized here for the same results.

You can tell yourself whatever you like on the subject, that doesn't make it true.

Care to compare any of these "better quarterbacks" to the Romo that Garrett's had?

And the point is that Garrett wouldn't have ever gone 36-30 with the same team.

Year after year. 20 years of this nonsense with a few fun seasons where injury luck and schedule fall in line perfectly. Most of those fun seasons coincided with the presence of a good run game to team with Romo.

It's just not worth the time you have to invest in going to the games. If you do it right (tailgating and all), it's an 8+ hour commitment.

I'm going to SF, MIN, and GB, let me know if you go to any of those, we can tailgate.

Pretty much, as frustrating as he can be to watch, Romo has been the franchise over the past decade or so. Granted, if he's not here, maybe we have a guy Rodgers or Luck fall into our lap, but there's no way to know.

Makes me hate Jerry even more every time I think of how much he wasted Romo in his prime with lesser coaching staffs and no defense.

Sounds like you are praising the 36-30 Parcell's era and making excuses for his mediocre record? That type of reasoning gets blasted here when it's done for Garrett.

Sure it does, but I'm not the guy throwing around unprovable hypotheticals to support my argument b

Maybe because the accomplishments and circumstances surrounding the two aren't remotely close?

You wanna try to debate Garrett vs Parcells, you just let me know.

Oh, no doubt, he threw away a guy who at his peak you could argue was one of the top-5 QB's in the league. What's worse is that he's a guy that we didn't have to give up anything for, he literally fell in our laps, which only happens once every decade or so, in the entire NFL. People always talk about what an anomaly Tom Brady is, but at least he played at a football powerhouse, under a legendary coach, Romo went to a school that nobody had ever heard of.

As critical as I've been of Romo at times, we really lucked out in a lot of ways. You'll never convince me that he's a championship caliber QB, but the guy has been the face of America's Team for over a decade.

I still haven't decided if it's going to be 6-10 or 7-9. Trash defense and fragile offense. I expect the locker room to collapse as well.
I hate to say this but given the lack of leadership on the team/coaches, I have to agree. Some teams seem to thrive when they are wounded or have backs against the wall. They find or create the "us against the world" mentality, unify and come out even stronger. This usually comes from motivation through the coaches/players to rise above the issues around them.
I don't see anyone affiliated with this team that has the respect to teach/commands that mentality.
Hell, we have about a month b4 the dust starts to settle to see what we really have. I'll wait and see.
