for either of those to pan out, the other team better be sending us a 1st day draft draft pick as well...Ellis is way better than either of those two guys

David
Greg Wesley is equivalent. Its much better than being on the hook for Price's huge contract through 2009.

Do you honestly think they would trade their only other offensive weapon?

Price for Ellis doesn't excite me in the least. We gotta do better than that if we move him. He'll play another season here at least.

This trade would be nuts... Greg Ellis is young and good and has more value than Price...

I've been running with the Ellis "What is my role" dumb *** quote for months now. The 4-3 clan was in denial - Ellis either has no role or won't accept what that role is. Ellis has either asked for a trade or been on the trading blocks for a while.

The shouting match just an effort to facilitate that Cowboys do move him.....
JMO

And i want the link to this mythical quote from 'months ago.'

You were running with a JJT article that asserted this.

And the only substantiated thing Ive seen is that he is not sure he can do it.

Parcells thought he could but Ellis acted like an idiot.

But man you are constantly trying to get people to think your some great prognosticator.

You predicted that Parcells would switch to the 3-4 which my baby niece also thought and NOTHING ELSE.

Lets talk about Dallas Cowboys football not about what you think you say about Dallas Cowboys football that you think makes you look better.

Hey, guys- this happened in MAY. And we have heard nothing else since then- and only found this out just now. If Ellis was going to be gone, he would be by now. Only if he keeps making noise is he gone. This is so minor compared to the fun and games of TO, Merriman, and Taylor- why are we wasting time talking about it?

Still throwing **** against the wall, eh Nors? I'll say this: You throw a ton. And because you do so, once in a great while a piece might stick. But very seldom.

I'm guessing you're either a weatherman by trade or a writer for the New York Post. Either makes a living by tossing darts. Accuracy be damned.

The trade destination for Greg Ellis? None. This is not the first player/coach brouhaha we've known about and certainly won't be the last. Many of them do not end up in player movement. Yet, many here have his bags packed. A lot of people are ready to run with this.

Bill Parcells has had a lot worse run-ins with personnel, particularly in New York and New England, and all that came of it was the inquiry. So Greg Ellis has concerns with how his role in the 3-4 portion of the Cowboy defense affects him.

Pro football does not exist in a vacuum. You're dealing with people and when change comes into play, or major change in this case, it's not so horrible for veteran like Ellis to voice concerns about how it affects him. It may not be convenient, but certainly not cancerous. Given Bill's disdain for being questioned, beit from Greg Ellis or JFE, it's easy to see how this became an item.

Again, this is not the NBA. Players aren't moved every time there is a tiff such as this. The National Football League is a different animal and trades are hard enough to facilitate anyway. We bear witness to that very fact every day with the goings on throughout the league. Much, much worse issues than Ellis v. Parcells. And the vast majority stand pat.

Might Ellis be moved after the 2005 season? Very possible. Right now, I don't see it. My reason being, it would be interesting to see how this all fits together before we begin shipping valuable parts out for pennies on the dollar. Even if the new scheme doesn't fit Greg like a glove, the man is still a proven commodity who can help this club in a variety of ways. He might have some serious concerns, but at the end of the day, I believe Greg Ellis to be a good soldier - in fact, one of the very good ones.

And quite frankly, I think if the organization were going to deal Ellis, they would have done so before now. This has been nearly two months in the making. It's just not a good time - for the Dallas Cowboys or Greg Ellis.

And this one had better not include supplanting Terry Glenn with Peerless Price, because Price more recently made Bledsoe look good. ;)

I wouldn't be totally against Price....just not with his current contract.

Dallas needs Ellis badly this season. He is our only proven defensive end! In the 4-3, he will be better than he's ever been because the talent around him has been upgraded.

Next year, Dallas almost certainly releases him before March, but his contribution this year is worth more than most anything we are likely to get for him.

That is, unless he becomes a cancer, and I just don't see that happening.

I'd rather get a 2nd round draft pick for him in 2006.

Sound harsh?

Hardly...IMO

The fact is, Ellis has never been a dominant type of player and has never produced double digit sacks in a season. I wish fans would stop making excuses for him too, because I expect more from a 1st round pick and I think we all should. If he doesn't like his role or has a problem adapting to a new scheme, then he needs to be traded just like any other player.
