Elway and the Texans in a sword fight for the ages

I actually think Jacksonville with Romo would be a playoff team.

A real QB with Ivory/Yeldon and Robinson/Hurns is a formidable offense.
Then add in the defensive players they are collecting... not bad.
Agreed, they're actually an intriguing option, especially when you add in they're in a weak division. You'd think they should have interest, but I haven't read anything anywhere that indicates they do. (I have read, though, that their faith in Bortles is greatly diminished.)

I think the hold up here really is the fact that houston released their #1 and denver retained theirs.

If denver makes a move and then doesnt have a trade partner for siemian anymore, they're in a bind at the position. Had the Texans held onto brock, we'd probably have something done by now.

How do you know that? Both of those guys played many games for their respective teams last season. Actually, both
of them played pretty will considering. Savage got his team to the playoffs.

Savage played about 1.5 games and was not very good (He didn't even have a TD). He did not get that team to the playoffs. Siemien was very mediocre (but a lot better than Savage). Osweiler played a lot of games too. Playing games doesn't mean anything. These teams want to win a Superbowl.

Totally agree. And I would go as far as to say fans aren't being honest with themselves on two fronts -- with the other being the actual worth of Romo.

Romo is a top-shelf QB when healthy, but he hasn't started a game since Thanksgiving 2015. He'll be 37 next month. He's been bothered by injuries.

These are things franchises take into consideration when looking to move picks.

I think the writing is on the wall that Romo will be a highly sought after free agent for "contending" teams in need of a QB. I think the writing is also on the wall that teams have little interest to move draft picks to get him.

In my view, only time will change that. We need a sense of urgency to sink in -- something along the landscape to change that creates some panic.

Maybe that's an injury. Maybe it's Cutler signing somewhere else, eliminating one of the few "starting" options. Maybe it's Garapolo being dealt to Cleveland. Who knows.

But again, are going to have the patience to wait this thing out? Unlikely, in my mind.
Great post.

One thing nobody seems to have thought of is whether or not Jones has a true picture of Romo's worth either.

This is a man sitting there as recently as the Combine saying there are Super Bowls in Romo's future.

Makes you wonder if he is thinking like a fan again.

A lot of us might be willing to take something, anything, when it probably is completely different.

A 4th? Are you crazy? I have a Super Bowl winning QB here!

Only two teams get to the SB and only one of them has Belichek and Brady. Nuff said.

That was after a pint of Johnny Walker Blue. Couldn't you tell what he was drinking in that cup?

They've about given up on Bortles.
It would be interesting if Coughlin was shrewd enough to leak that they were interested just to get Houston to blink and actually offer something substantial. But, I do think that Tony to Jacksonville would be an underrated move. Bortles actually cost them a lot of games last year.

Could you imagine if Tony goes to Jax, how houston IMMEDIATELY drops behind them in the rankings in their own division (potentially)? They would go from playoffs to 3rd in the division...(also behind Tenn)

And neither Denver or Houston will have a realistic chance of being one of those two teams with who they have at QB. Nuff said.

San Fran, NYJ, LA Rams? Give us Keenum and a 3rd.

Jets and SF aren't interested, they're in rebuild mode, they want a young QB to build around....The one Team I thought based on the team assembled that might be interested in Romo is the Rams....I don't see Hou or Den trading for Romo.

My crystal ball isn't that clear so I'll just have to defer to the two teams to decide. There's an old
saying in Texas...why pay for the whole cow when you can just buy the milk.

The QBs on their roster, and Cutler are not really options, though. Especially with Houston. Those teams need a good QB.

Cutler would be a huge upgrade for Houston. Romo is obviously better but Cutler may be more dependable.

Cutler isn't as bad as people make him out to be. I wouldn't want him on my team but he is a significantly better option than the Brock Osweiler or even the Trevor Siemians of the world.

Texans don't need a great quarterback to win. They just need to score more points. Cutler could do that.

If I'm Jerry, I talk Tony into Jacksonville, which has a wealth of talent and now has a great coach.

Then, I call Coughlin and say, "Look, offer me a 3rd (which is a high 3rd), and we have a deal. I won't shop it to anybody."

Jerry would LOVE to stick it to Houston like that.

And you know with the way Coughlin was booted from NYG, I'm thinking it would put a big smile on Coughlin's face to win a super bowl with Romo at QB in Jax. I doubt Giants fans would be very happy with that scenario. I also doubt Cowboy fans would much enjoy that either :) But, hey that is the way it is sometimes.
