When it comes to NFL personnel decisions, there really isn't a lot of evidence that he's good horsetrader. In fact, just the opposite. We overpaid to move up for Claiborne. We overpaid to move up to get Lawrence. A 5th rounder for Cassell was a desperation move.

There is no question we've drafted better in recent years (I suspect largely tied to Stephen and McClay being more involved).
They swapped a fifth for a seventh for Cassel.

So where is the proof Jax will be a pursuer of Romo?

I mean actual facts, not your opinion of what Coughlin decided this morning over his Wheaties.

Tom Coughlin didn't come out of retirement to develop a quarterback from scratch in the draft. They have a defense now that should be ready to dominate.

Jax should just throw a 4th rounder out there to see what happens. Houston will crap it's knickers.

But it proves that longshots do come in occasionally. The odds are against anything more than say, a 3rd round pick, but desperate teams do desperate things. The Bradford trade is proof of that.

Sure but we aren't even close to the desperate time frame Minnesota found themselves in.

Certainly, I guess it's possible, if the Cowboys held Romo until fall camp and Houston woke up to the very real reality that they were about to enter the 2017 season with Tom Savage at QB, they might suddenly panic.

But will we wait that long?

this is from the texans board:
According to @MikeGarafolo, it will take “a first round pick for this year AND a first round pick for next year” to get Garoppolo from Pats

That I actually believe. They think they have Brady's replacement in Garropolo in a few years, so why trade him? You've got to really wow them to get him.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'd love for Jacksonville to enter the fray. I doubt they will and I think people are just making things up now to try to justify their positions.

OK, fine. You can call Romo on June 2nd if he's still available.

It sucks because I would like to see Romo finish out his career being able to play somewhere, but a big part of me wants to just stick it to Denver and Houston and watch them try to justify to their fans why they both are again mediocre teams as the 2017 season unfolds.

I think to get anything for Romo we are going to have to exhibit patience and wait for Denver and/or Houston to crack. But with Jerry's "do right" rule and Romo already saying goodbye, I can't imagine us sitting around and waiting this out.

i think houston 'releasing' osweiler is the game changer.
they also showed their hand further by including the 2nd round pick (which they had to).
they should have waited till romo was released before making the trade - we are thankful for that.

What's it going to be then, eh?

That is exactly what is going on if people are being honest with themselves. To think Jones hangs onto him to pull of a Bradford-style trade, well, they truly forget how much Romo is like an adopted child.

As evidenced by their complete inactivity in a volatile QB market league wide.

Totally given up. But they will just end up starting him for a year.

Not totally, but close. That dude just doesn't have it.

That was after Minnesota lost their QB two weeks before the start of the season. No way is any team that desperate right now.

It's not like Houston and Denver will have a lot of options between now and the start of the season, though.

Seems like they could have conditions that prevent either side from looking like idiots if Tony wins the Super Bowl or goes down in training camp to go from one extreme to the other. Even a first round pick wouldn't be a big sacrifice if the condition were a ring.

That would be cool. Restructure as needed, and keep Romo. Wait for that catastrophic injury to whoever, then hardball the crap out of them.
