Emmitt on Cowherd... it's ugly!

Phil Steele said I believe that we are a contender and could be 6-1 or 7-0 to start the season. I will take his prognostication over Smith's anyday.

He had that job but screwed it up because he was so awful.

Commentating is not Emmitt's forteit. It's almost embarrassing listening to him. :donthear:

Am I the lone Cowboy fan who doesn't like what I see of Emmitt Smith as a person? If anything, the guy's somehow underrated as a player, but every time I hear him talk he comes off sounding petty and opinionated. Not a good combination. I never liked the stories about how he handled autographs. I also have a hard time forgiving him for Dancing with the Stars.

It's got nothing to do with his opinions on this particular team, because I'm not aware of him being particularly critical. He just comes off as one of the guys from the 90s teams I'd least like to have a beer with.

Unfortunately not, he has really lost a lot of my respect with the way he treats people and fans. He's very stand offish and not very friendly (I used to see him and his wife all the time at a gym I used to work out at).

The rumor is he charges for autographs, acts like a primadona and is not very approachable. I can't verify the autograph rumor, but I tried to joke around and talk to him a few times at the gym and he reminded me of a stuck up high school girl (I find this especially disappointing considering how much he places(d) an enphasis on his faith early in his career, you would think that would drive him to be more outgoing to people of all walks of life, but that's just my opinion)

Having said that, he was SUPERB on the field

PS..Thomas Everett worked out there as well and he was cool as ****, very talkative and funny as hell

I love Emmitt, but dont listen to a word he has when it comes to the current Cowboys or any other NFL team for that matter.

Maybe the team can send Emmitt a can of Neverdull to remove the tarnish he put on his own Cowboy star after they hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

I know a guy who's a police detective and he's an only child of a pretty wealthy old farming couple. Dude has cash and he's into autograph shows. He goes about once a months and flys all around the country going to shows. He's as big a Cowboys fan as anyone here and he's met Emmitt on several occasions at these shows and he always says what a jerk he seems to be. He's met dozens of Cowboys players through these shows he attends but swears Emmitt is the worste at being polite. Maybe he detests autograph hounds, don't know.

That would be my guess, who can blame him?

well since other past greats are not very high on this team either that leads me to believe 2 things and maybe 3.

#1 they think this team is gonna fold or quit again like last year.

#2 they are trying to motivate this underachieving team

#3 maybe both.

fact is Emmitt's pinkie toe has accomplished and done more for this franchise than the whole current team has done in over a decade. but this season i'm not caring about what people are predicting us to be like. i'm just gonna sit back and watch it all play out.

:hammer:

Emmitt is also aware of who our HC is. As long as Wade is here I don't expect much in end results.

Recognized by whom, exactly?

It's more of a dialect than a language. But that doesn't mean professional organizations are going to start approving of ebonics in the workplace.

Either way, he's on Dan Patrick today listing 'beef ribs' as one of his favorite pre-game pork foods. Along with pulled pork and bratwurst.

dont blame Emmitt..we all know a leopard cant change its stripes.....

I remember watching that live and I had to change the channel.

I loved Emmitt Smith, he was probably my favorite of the triplets growing up... but he was just straight up painful to listen to on TV. Absolutely terrible.

After reading Boys will be Boys FWIW, I came out with a pretty poor impression of Emmitt overall. Loved the player. The person? Not as much.

Same goes for guys like James Washington and Alvin Harper/
It's amazing how people take that book as being the truth. That book is trash IMO and anybody who thinks all of those stories are 100% true. Well that's too bad for you.

If Emmitt had sent smoke signals that said 16-0 and Super Bowl champs, alot of posters here would say he is a great football mind. Apparently his football IQ and ability to be well spoken is on a sliding scale.

What "bitter" fans are here. You don't hear what you want so you trash Emmitt Smith for having an opinion that does not match your own?

Read some of the backlash comments of this surefire Hall of Famer who gave his body for records and Super Bowls - so he thinks Dallas will have a losing season and all of a sudden he is a run into the ground??

He's selfish, he's a jerk in person (what are you secretly Commander fans?)??? Everything but - maybe he actually sees 7-9??

This man earned my respect on the field vs. New York and he and Aikman keep respectability on the team when some terrible things were going on team. Think of how far those teams would perform without Troy and Smith and what would the bragging rights be - two super bowls or five? I think he knows what a champion looks like and he does not see it here, his opinion based upon his dealings with being a 3x Super Bowl Winner.

I think the trashing comments are ridiculous. This team melted down in front of Emmitt, an alumni of generations of WINNERS and the entire Cowboys nation. They earned NOTHING to think they will improve and win in the playoffs - until they actually do it, it's all wishing.

Sure i hope they turn their fortunes but they have demonstrated nothing for over a decade. Sort of like thinking the Eagles will win a Super Bowl - past performance shows it looks unlikely.

Ridiculous.

Almost all analysts are kicking us while we are down, why not Emmitt too.

But Merrill Hodge did say we making playoffs though.

Anglo-Saxon? ESPN tries to make it's commentators speak Anglo-Saxon??

:lmao:

Also, Ebonics is a dialect of English, not a language of itself.:D

Boy people getting bent out of shape over Emmitt's comments. I don't remember people getting this mad when Deion or Troy made their predictions about this year's team. Deion pretty much said the same thing Emmitt did a few months ago and Troy has never really endorsed this team but Emmitt gets all of the hate I guess.

Thats cause troy comes across as sincere in his assessments. Deion, we all know he likes to hear himself talk, and he can make really good points, and points way, i mean waaaaay out of left field. Deuce Deuce comes across as "none of these guys or teams will ever be as good as me or us." Its very irksome.
