Isn't it kind of amusing for Emmitt to say that Parcells wouldn't have allowed/stood for Romo having a life in the offseason. So what. Exactly how many playoff games did we win under Parcells in the 4 years he was in charge for all his tough attitude? Does anybody really believe/honestly believe we'd have won 13 games in 2007 if Bill was still around? Does anybody really believe Bill's conservative game on both sides of the ball would have resulted in a playoff win in 2007? Cause I sure don't. We won 13 games because Wade/Jason Garrett set up an offense which could take advantage of Romo's talent--something Parcells wouldn't have allowed beyond a certain point. Besides Romo played golf during the Parcells era & dated, etc & Bill didn't forbid that.
I'm not saying Emmitt is a liar when he talks about devoting so much time to football; same goes for Aikman, etc. but I also believe both have selective memories. Are both really prepared to tell me neither dated in their early years before the SB wins, none travelled outside of Dallas before they won the SB, none had affairs, etc. Don't get me wrong. I love the Triplets; I've got an autographed picture of Aikman which I bought many years ago for $150; it sure cost heck of a lot more now. But I dont' believe any of those guys were angels before their SB wins and I know that Aikman didn't win a SB in his first 2 years and he was a first round pick--so what took so long.
I really do somewhat understand Cowboy fans being upset with reading about Romo in the offseason but that's if you believe absolutely everything you read which some of you do. Some of you actually seem to believe he spends little time at VR and does nothing but run around the country playing golf & dating Jessica, etc. Yet the Cowboys will tell you (some of you chose to disbelieve it) that Romo has never missed a practice, an OTA, etc in the last 2 years (Wade wasn't here before then), he frequently has late meetings at VR with Jason Garrett discussing plays, throwing the ball around, etc., frequently is throwing balls around with Jason Witten when VR is virtually almost empty except for those times when Michael Irvin states on his show he saw both men there working on their working out. But again some of you just dismiss all that cause you want to believe he's not working hard enough or we would have beaten the Giants. Romo didn't loss that game against the Giants; the entire team did. Too many penalties, too many dropped passes, OL didn't perform well at all in the second half. Yes, Romo missed TO when he was open; well so did Favre & Brady miss passes against the Giants, & Favre has been a starting QB since 92 and Brady since about 2000 but I guess all is forgiven them because both have won SBs. Just like all is forgiven Peyton Manning cause he also went one and out this year but he's already won a SB although it took him 6 years to even win a playoff game. And so many jump on Romo whose only been our starting QB for 1 1/2 years and frankly has been fantastic except for 2 losses in the playoffs.
