The golf thing.

Just do me a favor Joe.

**** with that BS already will ya.

I will take my warning/violation now. It was well worth it.

sorry didnt mean to upset you DC, i just feel though like some other fans, the star QB when football season starts, including offseasoning stuff, that star QB should be solely focused on football for the cowboys nothing else

besides, how much money is he paid to be the star QB? wasnt it 67 million for so many years DC?

now when offseason stuff isnt going on, then thats his free time, but when offseason conditioning is going on, then he should focus on football, nothing else

its like parcells said, you like romo he is gutsy etc, but he does some things that just make you want to kill him;

thats the part im talking about, it all goes back to me about growing up and really really wanting to be the best QB in the league and win superbowls, not some other sport DC

you sure didnt see troy aikman pursue some other sport, till after he won a superbowl or 2, aikman wanted to win superbowls period, he didnt care about stats, but winning

there will be plenty of time for romo when he leaves football to pursue golfing tours etc, but not when he is the star QB

its like ed too tall jones when he wanted to go into boxing, and he left the cowboys for a year to pursue that

his heart wasnt solely on football, but it should have been, thats what ed jones signed for to me

that shows in part to me where his heart was, im talking about ed jones here, when he left football for a year and went into boxing

players now are paid a ton of money dc to give their full attention to what they are being paid for, not pursue some other sport; again, when romo retires from football, then pursue that golfing thing,

He is one of the guys that got beat at home with a superior team by Quincy Carter and Troy Hambrick.

I was at that game. Hambrick had his longest run of the season that day. Herm is the absolute worst so he is a perfect fit for ESPN.

Can we really drop this stupid argument about his golfing. Romo is best when he's relaxed and playing care free football.

Romo and his golf game is what makes him a better football player mentally. Its a good thing to have under your belt if you are QB. Once you are rattled in golf - ITS OVER. So I like that he has had success in golf.

Now, on to Herm. I like this guy. I really do. One of the better people in this world. As far as coaching, well, he is probably a good coach(at best), but he cant get his teams to play well. Partly players, partly his approach.

The fact that he said that is laughable.

Still like him, but just talk about players Herm.

I think the Golf thing is just wrong! Where does Tony get off being able to play two sports well and having a hot girlfriend, it's just not fair I shall hate him because of it :laugh2:

now for real I would rather Mr. Romo play Golf then to party at the club all the time ;) :D now if only I could hire him as a Golf pro to fix my slice :banghead:

You make a solid point.

Would you guys rather have Romo playing some golf or beating on his girlfriend?

Would you guys rather have Romo playing some golf or "makin' it rain"?

Would you guys rather....eh you get the point.

Golf is the last thing we need to be worrying about when it comes to Tony Romo.

if its on his time i dont have a problem with that, but if he is taking some time away when he could spend some extra time working with wrs like roger staubach and troy aikman did, then i have a problem with that;

i remember back in 70's when rayfield wright, would spend an extra hour after practice working with young harvey martin, which helped martin and kept rayfield tuned up, when everyone else had gone home etc to do their thing, roger or rayfield would stil be there working with the rookies, they learned that the little things you do, the extra practice etc paid off, thats what im saying, now if romo is doing that great, but if he is taking some time when he could be working with wrs etc, then i have a problem with it,

also roger staubach spent extra time after practice with drew pearson etc, working with the wrs,

thats all im saying, and i want romo to have his first love with the cowboys not golf;

we all have the right to our opinions and thoughts

thats what i feel and think;

CJ...how do you know that these current players are not doing the same thing?I do understand what you mean but remember unlike today,when the season ended for those old time players,most of them didnt step on a football field untill training camp so who really knows what the heck they were doing but id bet most of them had part time jobs in the off season,but for the players of today,its damn near a year round job with all these otas and mini camps rookie camps and so on,its alot more involved so if a player takes a little of HIS OFF TIME to play golf,i just dont see a problem with it,imho:star:

Herm Edwards and Wade Phillips are actually pretty damn similar, both are great defensive coordinators but lack the ability to manage a team as a head coach.

I respect Herm's opinions and generally agree with him, he and Dilfer are the only two NFL guys on ESPN I can stand, but the golf comments are off base, if he really did make them.

Don't let them bully you Joe, you stand your ground. Your opinion is just as relevant as anyone else.

No kidding. Only ESPN would hire the worst GM and one of the worst head coaches of the last decade to comment on the NFL.

It's like hiring Andy Reid and Mark Mangino to comment on other people's diet programs.
Or Trent Dilfer to talk about QBs....oh wait.

I would not qualify Herm as a GREAT defensive coordinator. Maybe its just me, but can you think of any great D's that he's headed? Wade has coached some of the best D's in the game (not to mention D players), beginning with the Saints (right before they became the Dome Patrol under Mora), the Eagles (Jerome Brown, Reggie White, Seth Joyner), Broncos (Mecklenberg, Kragen), Bills (Bruce Smith, Bryce Paup, Ted Washington, Cornelius Bennett), Atlanta (Brooking, Kearney), Chargers (Merriman, Castillo, Jamal Williams) and now the Cowboys (Ware, Rat, Ellis).

You just said it's ok for him to play golf on his time...

Then said he should take some extra time to practice with the WR's...

So if he's using all his 'extra' time to work with the WR's then when does this so called 'his' time come into play?

Is he still handing out $10 fines for being 30 minutes late to a meeting?

Brilliant!

Chris Carter is a very inept commentator. He sounds stupid and is constantly fidgeting. He was also terrible for Inside the NFL.

You could have made your point w/out putting the guy down. Figures you pick on the one guy w/out a mean bone in his body.

Not that I know Joe personally, but he's always been a straight shooter and super polite to everyone on this board. So he thinks Romo should be putting more time into getting in sync w/the new #1 WR, instead of being on the links. You are going to bash him for THAT?
