This is all a moot point because the incredible Tyson Thompson is going to over take them both and be the next great Cowboy running back. He should be signed to a long term contract NOW.

Insteresting take.

However, it becomes completely irrelevant due to the lack of exclamation points at the end of your statement.

That doesnt show the carries at the beggining of the 1st and 3rd quarters. You have to look at so many circumstances. 4th quarter in some games we couldve been running the clock out and teams know we are running so you run 3 times and get stuffed for a total of 2 yards its gonna look bad. We have two good backs but if JJ was right and Parcells was holding him down Marion will have alot of fun with Gatorade while hes riding the bench.

I just don't buy that Barber played against a tried defense while Jones wore them down. What I see is Barber producing on pretty consistent bases and Jones is either hit or miss on the day. I just expect more from my starting RB and thus far Jones has shown himself as inconsistent in his play. Don't get me wrong I don't hate Jones but I do expect more than I have seen thus far. If he can do it this year great I would love for that to happen but after 3 seasons there is still doubt and that is not normally the case at the RB position

Off topic, is that Ron Paul in your avatar?

I hope it's an homage, cause he rules.

It's some old white guy I found. He looks kindly. I change avatars like I change underwear. Maybe it's an homage...I don't know. I'm not exactly what people call....politically active.

Or......a voter.

But I like that old man.

Wow, only once or twice a week.

The fact that anyone can think Bill is infallible on his talent evaluations is what I find laughable. Jacob Rogers, Peterson, and pretty much ANY o-lineman he has proven inept at. Why can't he be anything less than perfect when it comes to RB evaluations?

Sure, Bill has a better chance being right about evaluations than any schmoe on here. But he WILL be wrong on some of them. Julius may or may not be one of those.

I tend to think Julius might very well prove himself this coming year. If he can regain his rookie form, he'll blow MBIII away. But to base your whole argument that everyone's opinion is worthless just because it disagrees with Bill Parcell's is silly.

Oh he was DEAD wrong passing on Jackson. Cost us a big time franchie RB.

Barber's a better RB any day than Jones.

Has more of a nose for yardage and the end zone.

He's just a player. Some guys are just players...and Barber is.

Jones isn't. Oh he'll tease you every once in a while with a big run or some big yardage in a game.

But he hasn't/can't do it on a regular basis.

I'll take Barber any day over Jones.

Good point. News was he would have went with Kevin Jones instead of Jackson even if he DID draft a RB with that first pick. I don't know how it was on this board at the time, but on my old board almost everyone hated that we passed on Jackson. Bill doesn't exactly have a gleeming record of RB evaluations with the Boys.

Dunno.

That Barber guy is kind of working out for a 4th round pick.

And Julius looked like a real steal for a second round pick his rookie year. Then it went downhill with him. Barber has shown well for a 4th round pick but he hasn't shown elite skills which we could have had with Jackson.

I'm sorry gang but this guy is on the money. MBIII is the better running back- and it's not close.

We are lucky to have two pretty good backs. Neither are elite. They have different running styles. Both are good enough to play in the NFL. Both could be sitting behind an elite runner. Either may have a good day on any given Sunday. JJ is more of a breakaway threat. A case can be made for either runner being a little better than the other. There's nothing wrong with pulling for both or either although both play for the Dallas Cowboys.

I think we will have the best team and best OL JJ or MB has seen since they've been in the NFL. We'll see who is the better back, who is the most productive back, who is the most productive back stat wise, and we'll still have differing opinions after the year is over IMO. One may have a clearly better year. If so the Cowboys will be better for it.

It is close. If it weren't close then Barber would have touched the ball more than Jones. Not just more, but a lot more. Even if Barber becomes the starter he is still going to share the load with Jones. Not even close is what you can say about Emmitt and whomever was backing him up during the Superbowl years.

It should be interesting to see how Phillip and Garrett use the backs. Parcells had his way of doing thing and what he felt was the best way I'm sure the new staff has their own ideals of how and when to rotate the backs.
