Holloway...I think most rational Cowboy fans would agree that Pittsburgh is currently a better run organization right now than the Cowboys. They generally build through good drafts. They don't overpay for Free Agents and they cut the troublemakers. Their ownership takes a back seat to their coaching staff and those football people who they have hired to run the organization. For the most part, they let their older players sign elsewhere instead of resigning them to some ridiculous contract they'll never complete and that subsequently puts them in cap hell. They are the masters of "continuity" when it comes to coaches, having only three since I've been alive.
With all that said, your point is getting lost because you agree with the article and believe the Steelers are now "America's Team." They are not. Like others have pointed out, nicknames aren't transferrable. If our defense ranks #1 next year, will someone claim that they are the new "steel curtain"? No one is calling Baltimore or Pittsburgh's defense "Doomsday", are they? Why do those monikers remain attached to their respective franchises, yet everybody wants to try and annoint other teams "America's Team" each year?
Just like someone else posted earlier, is Pittsburgh now "Titletown USA" because they've won 6 Super Bowls? No...that will always be the Packers. I find it offensive when any one, sportswriter or not, tries to label another team with our nickname. By agreeing with the article, you are basically stomping on a Cowboy tradition and moniker that NO ONE else will ever have.
Now maybe you have a point about how the Steelers are run versus the way our Cowboys are run right now...but they aren't and never will be America's Team. There is only one America's Team...and that is and will always be the Dallas Cowboys.
