So he held her down for three seconds and left. Sounds to me like she was going off and he did what he needed to so as to leave the room without being scratched, bit, whatever. And they call that domestic violence. What a pile of horse dung.

Exactly -- sometimes, protecting yourself necessitates measures to keep the other person at bay. I think that's what happened here.

By not settling this at the hearing today, putting this case in front a jury always carries a risk.
The prosecution has the burden, but a criminal jury trial can be dicey, depending on the jurors & the fairness of the Judge.
His legal team better be competent.

Under Michigan law, if he is find guilty of this misdemeanor domestic violence charge and this is his first offense, the penalty is imprisonment of 93 days or a fine of not more than $500 or both.
So if he is find guilty, possible look at least 3 months in the big house.
Depending on the Judge, the sentencing may occur immediately, or at a later Sentencing hearing (also by not settling, and if he is convicted, the prosecutor may recommend a harsher sentence to the Judge).

Not sure that the Judge is gonna accommodate the interests of Jerry Jones and the Boys, if and when the sentencing occurs.
Potentially could be a lost or severely derailed season (no training camp, no preseason, no familiarity with the defensive schemes, etc.) for Lewis, if he is find guilty.
Or the judge might be a Michigan Wolverines fan and go easy on him. Sounds shallow, but there are judges like that.

A lot of cases come down to "she said," "he said." If the jury believes her, he gets convicted. If they believe him, he's acquitted. And, you can NEVER consistently predict what a jury is going to do. It's always a crap shoot whichever side you are on. That is the real reason behind most plea bargaining. I know nothing of the facts of the case, but apparently the prosecutor there believes her.

As far as the punishment goes, if he is convicted, as a first offense, probation is almost a certainty. And, as Boyzmamacita pointed out above, judges make arbitrary and sometimes inexplicable decisions on punishment that they don't have to justify, as long as it is a legal punishment. If it come to that, we can only hope he isn't a Packer fan.

Just for clarification sake, that is "up to 93 days." meaning anything between 0 and 93, but under no circumstances can it be more than 93.

This is why we got him in the 3rd round....... he was a much higher rated player

It sucks that it combines with all the other cases but he seems very confident that he will prevail in court

Of course that means he will still get the 6 games from the law offices Goodell, Friel and Mara

Forcing the accuser to testify under oath is one of the main tenets of our Judicial system ......... it is why many cases never go to trial........... if she testifies under oath she also has to face cross-examination

Jourdan seems very confident and the team did a thorough vetting before the draft

The incident happened before he was drafted. He can't get suspended for it.
