They weren't going to reduce. Their lead investigator, the only person to interview the accuser six times, recommended no games and they still suspended for six games.

I would say the majority of people were expecting some kind of reduction due to the precedent set with the Greg Hardy suspension.

Nothing major but I think a lot of media pundits and fans were expecting a reduction to 3-4 games.

Schefter likes to use the con that fortune tellers use. If you make enough predictions, sooner or later you will get it right. And when it does come true, tell the world how you predicted it all along while failing to mention all of the other predictions you got wrong.

This was really popular with tabloids and that's essentially what ESPN has become.

That is more Rappaport's MO.

I don’t know. Sometimes I creep on the forums of teams we play. On the Chiefs forums I’ve learned that Elliott

- definitely is an abuser
- needs to be suspended
- needs to be imprisoned
- needs to be paralyzed
- needs to be shot

All from different comments. Because people see “suspension” and think he did it.

Translated: "We can't beat them with Zeke getting 2 TDs and a buck-fiddy on us"

I think it's the NFL up to their tricks again, probably trying to corrupt the panel for the hearing Tuesday.

I may be wrong, buf if you are labeled a domestic abuser, it's an automatic 6 games. There is no reduction unless you removed that label. The NFL was intent on tagging him with that although no criminal charges were ever filed. I don't believe they would have reduced.

This was a power play and never about domestic violence. The NFL showed me that with their initial treatment of the Ray Rice case and their subsequent treatment of the Josh Brown case.

6 games is the baseline, I don’t think it’s mandatory...as they shown with the Josh Brown case and Greg Hardy the year before..both had considerably more evidence than Elliott

Considering the circumstances and some of the bad press surround the NFL’s process, I thought he had a decent shot at a reduction. That may have been thrown out the window by the NFLPA’s decision to rush to Texas.

I guess we will never know.

Unless they take DV off the table I don't see what's to settle.

That's exactly what Ezekiel has stated amidst all of this hubbub about a possible settlement being in the works. He's stated all along that he's adamant about clearing his name from any wrongdoing concerning domestic violence. Zeke is holding out for that to happen so as to clear his name in the past, present and beyond. He's still totally unwilling to accept a compromise that suggests any involvement in DV. If that doesn't bear strong indications of his innocence, it would seem nothing does. Also of interest is that Jerry supports his stance 100%.

Zeke's legal team wouldn't be doing their job if they weren't exploring every possible angle. Maybe they think they can strike a deal that Zeke would be agreeable to.

I'd file this under "leaving no stone unturned".
So much for the "I'm so innocent I'll fight this to the end" line.

Said the sources.... Im sure zweks lawyers arent leaking this. Its probably the nfl trying to change the preception of the case.
I'm pretty sure this is coming from Zeke's attorneys. Ambitious attorneys are always leaking stuff to the press. Consider this a trial balloon.

Sure sounds like Zeke’s legal team knows a suspension is inevitable at this juncture of the proceedings. Settle on the grounds of conduct detrimental and be done with it.

And with all the time and money spent on all these legal hearings the NFLPA will undoubtedly have to raise everyone’s union dues ;)
