It was his idea to open the season with an onside kick, which the Eagles recovered to set up a touchdown drive. The Eagles won that game, 41-14, and Harbaugh was given a lot of credit for his daring idea.

Was it also his idea to do an onside kick again several years later when Bruce DeHaven and Bill Parcells made him look like an complete arrogant imbecile after Randal Williams returned it for a touchdown?

How convenient to leave out that stroke of genius.

And far far too much is made of the "Pickle Juice" game. It wasn't like the poor lowly Eagles chug-a-lugged their miracle brine and beat a great Dallas Cowboys team. This was the first game for Dallas under Dave Campo. Dave. Campo.

If that win is a benchmark one in your team history, well, that explains why the trophy case has cobwebs.

MacMahon was on GAC just now, arguing that Harbaugh is right.

When the others said that the Skins and Raiders (to name two) are much worse off, he dismissed that by saying well they stink, so no one cares about them.

Is it any wonder that this clown is the one blowing up stories like the Roy Williams one from a couple days ago?

Funny how we all get upset about the STAR portion of the comment but ignore the PLAYOFF WIN aspect... ZERO playoff wins is still ZERO playoff wins!

Dear John Harbaugh,

Please throw yourself in front of a bus. Preferably as it is in motion. Thanks.

Andy Reid stands for all that is right in the NFL, is an exceptional role model and a wonderful loving father.

During the course of a year, I'll have somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 sports books show up in my mailbox. Unless the book was written by a close friend or my spouse, I don't normally bring it to your attention on the Beast. But while thumbing through Reuben Frank and Mark Eckel's excellent new book "Game Changers: The 50 Greatest Plays in Philadelphia Eagles Football History," I came across an explosive quote from former Eagles assistant and current Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

Asked why the Eagles have had so much success from 1999-2008 and the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game during that period, Harbaugh had this to say:
"Why is that? Because what Andy Reid and his program stand for is the opposite of what the Cowboys stand for. The Cowboys are a star system. It's all about building around individuals first and collecting talent, collecting great players. Andy has always been about building a team. And over the long haul, it's a team sport, and one of the greatest examples of that is what's happened with the Eagles and the Cowboys over the last 10 years. The Cowboys stand for everything that's wrong with the NFL."

Harbaugh spent nine years with the Eagles as a special teams and secondary coach before becoming the head coach in Baltimore in 2008. Obviously, his dislike of the Cowboys hasn't faded over time. Harbaugh made that comment last March.

Of the 50 greatest plays selected by the authors, 11 of them occurred in games against the Cowboys. Harbaugh was involved in the Pickle Juice game at Texas Stadium on Sept. 3, 2000. It was his idea to open the season with an onside kick, which the Eagles recovered to set up a touchdown drive. The Eagles won that game, 41-14, and Harbaugh was given a lot of credit for his daring idea. It was called the Pickle Juice game because the Eagles drank the stuff to overcome the Texas heat. The temperature soared to 109 that afternoon.

I just thought you guys might enjoy that quote during Eagles-Cowboys week.

Strangely enough I remember my team winning 3 Lombardies using this so called star concept. How many does he recall the Eagles winning using their method?

He is just trying to make a buck off of the Star power. Ask yourself this, would anyone by his book if he didn't have anything in there about the cowboys? Would anyone quote a blurb from his book if it didn't mention the Cowboys? Jerry should ask for his cut. :star:
His parents and maybe siblings. Maybe.

I don't dispute his general premise -- that building a team is more important than stockpiling great players -- but Dallas and Philadelphia are not the best examples of the two methods. The Eagles have acquired more big-money/big-name players than Dallas has in the past 10 years. And the biggest name the Cowboys acquired had been acquired already by the Eagles.

I'll eat my crow although I don't agree Dallas stands for everything wrong with the NFL.

The Eagles have owned us the last decade + excepting the last four years. They've been to five CC games (I think that's right off the top of my head) and 1 SB. Sure they lost the SB and four of the CC games so they didn't get over the hump. And they may never get over it.

Harbaugh still is talking out his *** otherwise.

Nope, sure doesn't.

I'd call him a hack, but it would be an insult to hacks.
