Most of us probably suspected that our defense was likely outdoing itself to some extent during the regular season games that saw us play to a somewhat unbelievable 13-3 record. Of course, the offense tended to the lions share of our success. The defense, unfortunately, proved sorely insufficient yesterday afternoon by failing in the final game, when it counted the most. Better pass rushing talent and a more capable defensive backfield would likely have made the difference between that loss and a resounding victory in that contest vs GB. It's obviously high time for veteran FA and the draft to address it.

Here's hoping the upcoming offseason sees this Cowboys' organization create a better defensive unit -- one that responds noticeably better to the challenges of elite QBs. Yes, the play of Rodgers was outstanding and all but it wouldn't have been nearly as likely to happen if it weren't made quite so easy by a defense that failed to defend better when it counted the most. A better pass rush and DBs that present a much stiffer challenge to the most elite passing games could make the Cowboys much more formidable foes in the future. Front office, let's make it happen!

ARLINGTON, Texas -- With a tornado warning forcing people to shelter in place at AT&T Stadium on Sunday night, Dak Prescott walked onto the field roughly two hours after his first playoff loss. With his bow tie, it was easy for the fans to know who it was, and they applauded in kind. As he hugged some friends and spent about 30 minutes under the giant digital board, talking, what must have been going through his head?

Prescott did everything he possibly could to deliver the Dallas Cowboys one of the most improbable playoff wins in their history, only to see a 51-yard field goal veer back between the goal posts to give the Green Bay Packers a 34-31 win.

In one playoff game, the Cowboys learned more about Prescott, who threw for three touchdowns and completed 24 of 38 passes for 302 yards, than they did in 16 regular-season games.

As good as Prescott was in the regular season, with 23 touchdown passes and four interceptions, 3,667 passing yards, six rushing touchdowns and 13 wins, he was better on Sunday because of what was at stake.

THis team has a premiere QB and RB and offensive line. You will get back the lionshare of this defense, plus Jaylon Smith. You will bring in a DE, LB tackle, and DBs and improve the defense. I don't give a flying flip what the negative people think about this. There are far too many positives.

I've watched too damn much football not to see where this team is headed. I refuse to cry about yesterday's loss when the sign posts indicate this is a team on the verge of being a dynasty.
