I don't think the statistical analysis pieces that have been posted support this. For an anecdotal piece, Dilfer praised Dak on MNF the other night for this very thing, as he highlighted how Dak dominates the middle of the field and noted that is the harder thing to do as a QB.

Yeah, just by the eye test, erod's quip of Dak not attacking the middle of the field was way, way off. He hits Witten on seams, skinny posts, and regular post routes -- Beasley on short and medium slants and skinny posts, zig zags and intermediate hitches. It made no sense to me.

Dak spreads it around, and uses the whole field.

That was Dak's first 300-yard passing game. Throwing for 300 yards is no big deal.

We can do numbers all day. He's doing really well, and I really like how he handles 3rd down.

But he's still got light years to go. He's a rookie.

You're being too critical of Dak, erod

You're trying too hard to find flaw. I'm not saying you're doing it on purpose or that you're looking to demean him, it's just, you're really reaching, bro

I'm frankly convinced a vast amount of our fanbase thinks we have a fairly marginal offensive cast that has lucked its way into success.

Witten? Slow and old. Cut him.
Dez? He runs one route. Head case. Trade him.
Dak? He's no Romo.
Zeke? Good only because of the line. Where's Ramsey?
Williams? Worst No. 2 receiver in the league. See ya!

That line must be really, really good to cover up all these warts. (I suppose the line just had a bad year last year? No other explanation for 2015.)
AMEN.

I'm really not. I know September and October mean almost nothing to New England or Seattle. It was warm up for the 90s Cowboys.

The 8-1 is awesome, but it covers up some of the truth. The offensive line and Zeke are THE reason for this, and thankfully, Dak has the cajones that those wusses from last year. didn't.

I'm not overreacting to the start, and I won't overreact when he hits his first rough patch.

It's a process.

You can't site an 8-1 start as a "cover up"

What wouldn't constitute as a cover up? 9-0 is the only better outcome, and as it stands, we have the best record in the league. And yes, the final sprint is most important but we can't analyze what hasn't happened yet, brudda. It's pure projection.

What should they have done to have sold you? They've been nearly flawless, erod.

You must not have watched McNabb play. And anyone who disrespects McNabb never saw him play either.

It's a compliment.

Lol. I watched him play. How are they comparable? And no, it's not a compliment, McNabb was never a sustained elite QB... he was a wiley, hit and miss gunslinger, and not efficient on intermediate throws. Never won a championship and is a dud. **** McNabb. He had a canon, our rook is nothing like McNabb, who was only elite in 2004. McNabb started off as a run and gun gunslinger, our rook is pass first.

These McNabb, McNair comps are lazy.

How do they (Dak/Donovan) comp for you? Do telleth

Never elite? He took a team with trash receivers to 4 straight conference titles. The only year he had an elite receiver in Owens they went to the Super Bowl and were the best team in the NFL.

That was 2004, and I said he was elite that year only... but alas, I want to know how they comp, dude

Prescott wants nothing to do with the middle of the field other than quick slants and turnarounds. He stays on the edges. Elite quarterbacks make their money deep down the middle where it can get ugly. Long balls down the sideline carry little risk, and they don't require a "read".

A screen pass that goes 83 yards looks great on the stat sheet, but it's not really a QB play. Dak is doing PHENOMENAL for a rookie. But he inherited a PERFECT offense.

I'm not against giving the team to Dak at this point, but that pretty much ends this team's championship hopes for this year.
I think we win the East but the SB might be a little much to ask.
He is a rookie and preforming stellar.

How many rookie QBs have started with the best offensive line in the NFL, the best RB in the NFL, an elite receiver, and a Hall of Fame tight end?

These discussions need perspective.
So your saying he wouldn't have Cleveland 8-1?

Even Tom Brady wouldn't have the Browns sitting at .500 at this point. They are one of a few teams that have had so much going wrong for them over the years (FO, Coaching, players, etc) that it would be a small miracle if they could ever get to an 8-8 record. They are an anomaly, much like RGIII.....whose rookie year many detractors use to try and downplay Dak's early success. What's next...Zeke is the next Trent Richardson (yet another of many bad decisions by the Browns)?
