ESPN is reporting Eli Manning has separated shoulder...

I think so, Not sure but I think he also injured Jacobs.

What a way to start off your career!

Yeah, not intentionally but it was him.

I thought Spencer was coming on in the game, and Wade confirmed what I had thought I saw.

So that is why all of the sudden I am seeing fat guys throwing the ball in parks.

It's a phee ...fenom ... feanomu ... it's a strange new occurence.
Fat guys unite! You too, can play in the NFL!!!!:laugh2:

Get well, soon, Elie.:)

What a horrible week for injuries in the NFL. Just about every team in the league lost at least one key starter for the year in Week 1. I hate to agree with Madden .... I can't help but think that it has something to do with players don't really their bodies ready for contact anymore in preseason.

Eli said in the post game interview that it happened on the 2 point conversion when he was brought down by Spencer.

THat was a huge play..................... not only becasue of the injury to Eli.

Keep it coming Spencer..........

Spencer played pretty damn well from what I saw, especially as the game wore on...First game jitters went away and he showed he has the talent. 2 pressures and a sack (although it doesn't count--why is that btw, just dumb).
Better than Ware did his first game, or, for that matter, last night

Many Giants fans just got their wishes answered. It wouldn't surprise me if Lorenzen did a better job than Eli. Kind of the a heavier Brady/Bledsoe, Romo/Bledsoe story.

That's a two way street because you can get injured in preseason just as fast as you can in a game...so that really don't make alot of sense to me.

I just think it's a case of conditioning of the body as a whole....and lots of luck!

It was a big play because it kept the Giants 2 score behind us at the time but I don't take any pleasure in players getting hurt. While it is part of the game of football I hope Eli the best in his recovery.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if J-Load doesn't initiate a bit of a QB controversy by the time Eli recovers...The very easy to make fun of Kentucky QB was a heckuva competitor in college...I don't think he'll suffer from confidence issues and he does throw a decent ball...I wouldn't let the Pilsbury dough boy thing fool ya, he's a gamer

I hope Eli is ok with no long term effects .... he played great last night.

ON SECOND THOUGHT......

You know....when you think about all the stuff that went on when Eli was drafted and he refused to play for the Chargers and he got his daddy to throw his weight around to save him from San Diego......I kinda think that what goes around is coming around for young Eli.

he actually looked like he was coming around for the giants and turning into a pretty damn good qb. this does suck for them.

Wasn't there a holding call on the play that Jacobs got hurt? And wasn't it the o-lineman blocking Spencer that got called for holding? That is what caused Spencer to unintentionally hit the side of Jacobs' knee. That leg bend looked very bad on the replay. Coughlin said the doctors told him it was a MCL last night. It looked worse, but at the same time it was a good sign that Jacobs walked off the field on his own.

My first thought on Eli was that it was a separated shoulder. The longer he sat the worse he felt. Good decision not to put him back in the game. Could have made it a lot worse. Eli said it happened on the 2 point conversion. That is when he started holding his arm up, but that play was the second time Spencer got him and pushed him down on that same shoulder.

Yeah, he was a worthy adversary last night. I hope he returns in time for us to beat him again so there is no questioning who is the superior team.

You can control the conditions in training camp a lot more easily than you can in regular season games (QB's aren't sacked in practice). It's not good luck or bad luck when it's happening to every team in the league. Teams should do a better job acclimating their players bodies to contact, but they're too frightened to.

Against a pitiful defense. I'm sorry I just didn't see greatness.

I agree in general, but sometimes you really can't do anything about it. Eli got planted on his shoulder awkwardly. I don't know of any type of drill or how much pre-season exposure would prevent that type of injury.
