Theres no need to restructure much. Meltons 8.4mil, Frees 7mil, and given tyrons deal length10.3 mil can be restructured. projected cap is between 138 and 141 mil, but most think it will be a little higher than the 141. Lets say 143. With just these 3 moves Dallas would be 28.563 mil under the cap. Then adjust Dallas rollover cap they will basically have 30mil of cap to use for their FAs they want to resign and FA. Dallas has 1 big FA to sign and the next biggest will be free which will be around 4-6mil yearly if they resign him. The rest are role players. Dallas would have the ability to sign a couple bigger named FAs they couldnt last yr.

Not to mention the guys Dallas will be cutting guys like Weeden, Dekota, and so forth. All these guys add up

I agree for the most part about not restructuring although some may be necessary. We could also see one or more take a paycut.

You should be able to get one CB in FA without spending a lot. Todays' NFL requires long, reasonably fast, and tough CBs who can tackle. They don't grow on trees but they can be found. You don't necessarily have to have top well known CBs. Ones who fit that description are out there. Until we get a better cap situation and fill some holes with a couple of playmakers esp at WDE we can live with that type at CB. You need another OScan and he may already be here.

If we can find a playmaking 3 then you try to obtain one. Drafting one is preferable. Drafting high is the best bet to find ONE guy who fits the bill. You may increase your chances by drafting the right guys after day two.

You can save a ton of money getting your WDE or SDE if Lawrence is your guy by drafting him in the first two rounds. Spencer may be your SDE even if he needs thru TC next year.

Another 1/3 can be found in the draft or in FA. You may find just a another 1 to platoon with Brent either in FA or better the draft. You would like a quick strong guy who can both do the 1/3, rush some and push the middle but just forcing double teams to move him is enough on non passing downs and to platoon. People are down on Hayden but he might have to do along with Brent for now. He must be better than many think for the coaches to like him. Just food for thought there.

I'd like a cover LBer and that can be a player who grew out of the S or RB position like M Roberts of SC or the like. Not big enough to play every down but fast and big enough to come up and support the run in the Nickel esp a Big Nickel. Durant is a decent and fast cover guy. Lee can play the position as he has enough quickness and instincts to go with his knowledge and smarts. The rest is there.

You retain Parnell and Weems maybe Hill. You pay Dez.

Not sure all that gets done in one year or all is manageable cap wise without mortgaging the future too much.

Please, JPP has double digit sacks on a piece of crap team, and he plays the run well. How much did Ware outperform him in the 4-3 DE spot? He'd be a huge upgrade and better than any DE we will find in the draft at our spot. However, I doubt we can afford him.

He was already signed. We cut him.

His production was not worth his money.

He was going to be a cap hit of over $16mil. So he was cut because we couldn't afford to pay him. Why you ask? Because we didn't have the cap room to make him fit. His production didn't match the numbers and restructuring enough people to get him to fit was unwise for the team then and in the future. You can't keep robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Agree, i like Walter Thurmond. He has a injury history but Dallas has taken that chance with players who fit their scheme because they get them on the cheap.

And DEs in the draft, there just seem to be a bunch of DEs who are the size of Lawrence. I love JPP in this defense because Dallas could use him on the strong side in this defense because he's almost 280 and he plays the run good. Him going up against RTs on a regular basis would have the same kind of impact as Mario Williams IMO. Williams sed to play the weakside in buffalo and he wasnt as effective, they switched him over to the strongside and has been unblockable most of the time. You add JPP to a DL with a inside guy like crawford and thats your pressure which only creates mismatches because of line adjustments. Add in the blitzing we have been seeing recently and man def. I think u go into the top 10 on def. It all starts with pressure.

This is the perfect year to go into the draft, simply asking: 'Where's the beef?'

Was he a player we couldn't sign or a player we couldn't keep?

JPP doesn't have that quick step anymore to put him as an elite passrusher. He is damaged goods because of his injuries. No ways do I want him around Dallas if he is asking too much.
