They should do both IMO. Suh for the window that is now and a young stud for the future.

Like!

This team is living on borrowed time with Romo, so I'm not an advocate of just drafting a guy and waiting a year to see if it all pans out. Doesn't have to be Suh, just make sure it's somebody good, no reclamation long-shot.

I like JPP,i dont think there is DE with that kind of athleticism in the draft but i wont give him a huge contract though . he should be on the top of the list of potential FA signings.

Have you watched Paea play or did you come up with his name because he played for Marinelli in the past?

Leary and Fred pushed him around often in that game. Fred had the poor guys feet off the ground on one play.
Ive watched him play. Paea typically plays with good power and leverage. He does more in the pass game then the run game but he a very good power player

If going with a free agent DE...I'd likely favor Jabaal Sheard.

Sheard showed a solid level of consistency as a rookie & 2nd year player at right defensive end in the 4-3. He basically averaged 55 tackles & 7.5 - 8 sacks in his first 2 seasons.

Things to like about JPP include his age, versatility, size and athleticism. But he will likely get a pretty good size contract, one that may simply be too cost prohibitive given the other players the Cowboys need to sign. I also get somewhat of a bad vibe about JPP in terms of consistent effort...particularly after getting a big payday. Then there's the back issue.

Really like Justin Houston...but he'll command BIG money, and will likely be franchised if the Chiefs again can't reach a contract with him. Love Greg Hardy's talent...but not his troubles. Jerry Hughes is interesting...but the talent around him gives some cause for pause in terms of his production. I like him though. Have seen some mention Brian Orakpo on a prove it type of deal given his injury issues.

I would love to have JPP, but I don't want to break the bank to get him here. I think his up and down career has to be taken into account, but I would pay him more than NY and hopefully the jilt factor will cause him to want to stay in the division to prove he was worth it.

Signing JPP makes putting together a legitimate defense much easier next year.

I'll always remember Romo telling the younger players in his offense about how a few years ago this guy was almost unblockable. I'd like to see if Marinelli could get him back to that.

And before that when was the last OG to go in the top 10?

Probably the last one that earned the grade.

Just like Martin and Fred did for us.

People remember that fred had a 2nd round grade for us.

They forget that we didn't have 32 players with a 1st round grade.

He's certainly worth investigating.

Jabaal Sheard actually played 4-3 LDE with the Browns during his first two seasons.

He moved to 3-4 ROLB in 2013 and has played on both sides this season.

Have seen some mention Brian Orakpo on a prove it type of deal given his injury issues.

I'd rather go after other DE options, but if Brian Orakpo will sign a "prove it" contract similar to Henry Melton's, it'd be a good signing.

Some team will probably offer up more up front money than we can stomach.

Dallas wont be signing any big fa's this offseason unless they dont resign dez. Only way to build the defense is through the draft.

Seems the way it is, for this fan as well. But Dez will be back at least for two seasons...

A team has to pull the trigger, grade or not. Thats where we were ahead of the curve. We would have taken either Cooper or Warmack at 18 in a heartbeat. Teams didn't value intirior that highly players until recently. Unless you were Nick Mangold or your name was Pouncey, if you were an elite OC, you were most likley going in the 2nd round. If you were an elite OG, unless you were Steve Hutchinson you werent hearing your name called until at least 20 names came off the board.

The NFL is wising up to the importance of a strong intiror OL, and considering we made two landmark picks, as well as target two other player's that went in the top 10, we can say we are well ahead of the curve. Id wager to say teams are going to emulate what we have done on our line, and you will see OG's and OC' s be valued much more in the next few drafts

I could live with signing Brandon graham and jabal sheard (both young hungry players) and draft a DT and FS with our top 2 picks

Fix up the d-line and you dont need to worry about a safety. Church and Wilcox are just fine

Oh, come on. Name ten high priced FAs and you'll find we didn't even bother to look. I want a BB512 but I don't look because I can't afford it and more importantly my wife would kill me.

Then i stand by my point. Everyone complains about high priced free agents anyway and how jerry always wants them, which is a myth.
if he corrected this 'salary cap hell' to sign top free agents we.d be right back there

Jerru wanted to make a run at Mario Williams but could not. There is one for you. There are lots more that we did not even bother to contact their agents.

I dont remember anyone upset about not landing mario williams, and dont remember jerry doing everything to get him here either

So it doesn't matter about answering your question which proved you wrong. You'll just move the goal posts and declare victory. First, your premise is called mind reading. You are predicting the future to fit your agenda. A cognitive distortion. Second, is you have set up a straw man after the fact.
