Doomsday101;3097140 said:I agree. I have never expected Wade to act like someone else. Wade knows how to deal with players he has been doing it a long time.
As for Wade remaining here I think that depends on him getting this team over the hump if he can do that then I think he will have earned an extension of his contract.
I have never believed there is only one way for a coach to deal with players I have seen many different coaches do things their own ways Tom Landry was nothing like Jimmy Johnson yet both had their share of success.
ShiningStar;3097154 said:Exactly, but lets face it, whos Legacy defines this organization. For as much as Jimmy could have been a winner here, he walked and we've gone through a good handful of coaches. But if Wade was more of a peoples coach, would they really care what he did on the sidelines?
silver;3097045 said:It's obvious Tim McMahon never played the game of organized football. Stuff like that happens all the time. And it worked since Newman played flawless football afterwards. Mission accomplished by the Poodle.
Doomsday101;3097166 said:If Wade get this team over the hump I think he will gain more respect from some fans maybe not all but then you can't please everyone and why would you want to try? :laugh2:
especially ESPN!Doomsday101;3097033 said:It has been too quit at Valley Ranch they need some controversy to write about if not then they will have to come up with some real story that may take some real thought.
Yakuza Rich;3097180 said:Sorry, McMoron, the defense has played great lately and the secondary is difficult to pass on. Even after the incident the defense still played great.
You may act like Newman thrashed Campo to the ground, but that's not what happened. Wrong year for this team to try to create a controversy. Have fun continuing to be banned from the Mavs locker room.

dcfanatic;3097190 said:He has no media savvy.
dcfanatic;3097196 said:Jason Campbell was 12 for 12 on third down yesterday.
Let's relax on the praise for the defense. They were good. Not great. The Skins had a hand in shutting themselves down yesterday.
ShiningStar;3097246 said:holding them to 6 points considering their standard 17 is just good? Id hate to see your expectations for great. But im sure you are expecting that defense that was on the field for a big portion of the game and not really looked gas is not enough for us not on the field, was not enough that they kept the game in check and made the turnover that sealed the win when all were expecting the FG to win the game. Good luck with that.
dcfanatic;3097271 said:They missed two FG's and we won the time of posession battle.
They were good. Not great.
dcfanatic;3097190 said:For the 1,243,983th time it's the media's fault. They made Terence Newman shove Dave Campo on the sidelines during the game yesterday.
:laugh2:
ShiningStar;3097273 said:and how was that the defense's fault. Oh thats right KEPT THEM OUT OF THE END ZONE!!!!!!!!!!
They didnt looked gas, they didnt get mentally whipped, they didnt get frustrated at the offense due to lack of production, the defense gritted it out and game to play. You are right they werent great, Just a hell of a lot better than great.
Thats on top of us missing a FG, a fumble and our defense getting the turnover that sealed the win, defintely not a great performance. Good think they just caved in and went home.
gimmesix;3097281 said:No, it's the media's fault for acting like it's a big deal. Reporting what happened is fine ... Campo grabbed Newman after the defense came off the field, Newman shoved Campo, the two exchanged some words and it was over. In the heat of the moment, things like that happen. Needing an explanation for it is over the top.
The head coach says it was no big deal.
The coach involved says it was no big deal.
The player involved says it was no big deal.
And it was just a minor shove. Why can it not be left at that?
dcfanatic;3097291 said:LOL.
So now because I won't say they were great I am saying they caved in and went home?
Calm down Mrs. Phillips. Your son's defense was good yesterday.
You were upset the team didn't get a 'Victory Monday' weren't you?
:laugh2:

IRVING, Texas -- We shouldn’t be surprised by Wade Phillips’ reaction to the sideline confrontation between secondary coach Dave Campo and cornerback Terence Newman.
It’s easy to downplay the incident and blame the media for blowing it out of proportion. It’s ridiculous to insist that the media is “misinformed” about the situation, since video clearly shows Newman shove Campo after heated words were exchanged, but Phillips tends to look foolish when some firmness is in order from the head coach.
Remember his reaction to Pacman Jones’ fight with the bodyguard at the hotel? Or how about the way Phillips handled T.O. tearing his team apart the latter half of last season?
Given an opportunity to clarify what happened on the sideline Sunday, Phillips essentially excused Newman’s behavior.
“I mean, people are invading the sidelines now,” Phillips said. “These things have been going on a long time in football. Players get upset, coaches get upset. Sometimes you get upset with each other. Sometimes you’re trying to talk to each other. There’s a lot of things that go on that we get worked out, and that’s what we did.”
OK, fine, but Newman clearly has a lack of respect for the coaching staff. No matter what Phillips says, it is not typical for players to get physical with their coaches.
Newman has declined to speak to the media since the end of Sunday’s game, but he’s publicly called out Phillips’ staff before. During a December appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Newman accused the Cowboys’ coaches of failing to own up for their mistakes.
“That's what I'd like to see happen,” Newman said of coaches taking accountability. “I think as a player, you notice things like that. How can you respect someone who doesn't respect you, because he's putting the blame on someone else, rather than owning up to it?"
Furthermore, how do you respect a head coach who doesn’t demand it?
