ESPN MacMahon: Wade Phillips shows weakness in brushing off Newman-Campo incident

I think it is a big deal. Any time a player puts his hands on a coach it is a big problem. None of the coaches I've ever played any sports for would have tolerated it, and neither should Phillips.

I would've suspended Newman for a game. I'm glad the defense played well yesterday, but that still doesn't erase what Newman did. This act was a symptom of a lack of authority that the coaches wield. I'm not saying we're going to lose every game from here on out, but I do see it as a problem.

I would rather those two have a spat on the sidelines then to see the normal campo just throwing his arms up or rolling his eyes like he normally does or has done in the past.

I don't think I've ever seen Wade fired up about anything but the opponent's FG misses. He is the most demonstrable FG miss coach in the history of the NFL. Multiple fist pumps and probably some yelling too!
