Every new coach plays to win preseason games. They want to show their players that are competent, as well as set the tempo for the rest of the season. If the Broncos or any other team we play in the preseason are surprised, it's their fault. There is nothing in the rule book that says they can't game plan against us.

I was surprised we did blitz nearly every play at least early in the game. It was kind of funny :lmao2:

Denver had things that needed to worry about and Dallas had their own set up issue. The only way Wade is going to get this defense ready for the season is by putting in the blitz packages that we plan on using this season. He does not need to wait and make adjustments or corrections once the season comes.

Let the Coach explain

Just spoke with Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips. In his eyes, there is no need to defend the way his team played on Saturday night against the Broncos.
"We just played the way we play," Phillips said when reached by phone. "We're playing football and trying to win a game. That's what we're supposed to do."
Some of the Broncos, most notably safety John Lynch, were upset after the game saying the Cowboys violated the code of ethics in the preseason by blitzing so often.
Phillips said the defense he ran in the preseason victory against the Broncos is the same defense he has always run. That it is not "blitz" heavy or anything of the sort.
"It's the same defense we've always run," Phillips said.

Broncos Request Shorts and Pads For Third Preseason Game

I figured most Broncos fans would be embarrassed by the fact their players accused the Cowboys of playing too hard in their 31-20 preseason victory Saturday. Turns out I was wrong.

Some of you guys joined the whine festival that began in the Broncos post-game locker room and spilled into a Denver Post game story that led with the words "Those Dallas Cowboys must be proud."

In response to all the criticism, Phillips has promised to hold up a homeade sign that reads, "We're Coming!" before each blitz the next time the Broncos come to town.

Phillips seemed hurt by the suggestion that he took advantage of his former team as he ripped open a bag of Gummi Bears. In a moment of rare candor, Phillips blurted, "They blitzed us, too. We picked it up."

I'm sure the league enjoyed hearing Broncos safety John Lynch talk about the unwritten rule of not going all out during preseason since this isn't reflected in ticket prices.

I'll be interested to see if Phillips issues a formal apology today for his team's overzealous behavior Saturday night. And a special thanks to my Broncos audience for driving up our traffic.

Lets look beyond of how the broncos are crying lets just focus and think about how this will give are defense some confidence and some kind of identity i know right now they are all around each other making fun of the broncos right now and things like that helps build chemistry and team unity trust me i know when i played football and we clobbered the raining Div 1 high school champs they were crying saying we were playing with too much aggression and in the the team d built from that

I've watched it twice now, and we did blitz some, but it wasnt on every play...we did some line slanting and some very creative blitzes, but I'm quite sure we didnt open up the entire playbook...we did some stuff, but their OL got man handled...no other way for them to spin it, it was just a whipping

It wasn't on every play, but it was damn near it. Through the first 10 plays of the game we blitzed 7 times. One of those plays was a punt, so that doesn't count. Another was a run play where I couldn't tell if we were blitzing or not.

That's 7 of the first 9 plays we blitzed.
 
I thought there were two sides to that blitzing pancake... Why didn't they burn us a few times if we were sending too many guys?

And on them missing three OTs... Two of them were Adam Meadows and Jacob Rogers. Hello?
