this board is become so negative that we are losing a few good posters because
insane crap like posted above. the point is us computer NFL fans would be a
clown car arriving at the sideline of a coaches training camp.

Sounds like quality posters dont handle adversity well and cannot block out the noise and focus on the task at hand and may not be able to finish the fight and battle the right way.

I mean it always amuses me when some people run from an opposing view to congregate with only like minded people.

The truth is everyone tends to tuck tail when their view isnt prevailing at them moment. You've seen people come around to Romo's value, and many others. The cold truth is that there is very little to be positive about in how this seasons unfolded. You have Collins, B Jones and a better than expected McFadden, maybe Gregory, but outside that you saw a team that relied on one player who runs this offense and really makes the biggest plays when he has to abandon the system (i.e. escape form pressure/extend plays, move to hurry up a la the Giants game). Couple that with the (as I have posted for 5 years) the worst safeties in the NFL along with slow CBs made to play off with closing speed and voila.

Romo comes back next year and nothing else changes, the team could go 8-8 or 13-3. If he goes down, hello 2015. People are now coming around to the fact that this coaching staff lacks vision and evaluation. All of the soft, intangible qualities of process and RKG, and right-way-ness hasnt translated. NYJ have played an entire year with a first year backup. Washington basically went to a backup in preseason. Many other backups can go >1-7, yet in Dallas it is the impossible. Weeden ("the most improved player this offseason") basically got more reps than any other team (in preseason and all Wed practices the last 1 1/2. And 3 games in - gone. Desperation. If someone can spin that to a positive that makes any sense, I would love to read it

This is an interesting comment. Care to elaborate?

It is a bad year. People are going to get mad. The board will naturally get negative.

Don't think the absence of the good ol' All-22 recaps haven't been noticed. Where are all the recaps and what not? Ran off by negative posters? Don't be naïve.

Just like how some say the "negative" posters "disappear" when the team wins.

Funny how that all works out.

Well put. I did a couple of recaps early on and most were positive and "a fix here or there" and money

then it sinks in that the team goes into mucking every hand unless its pocket aces, the QBs are skiddish, the system has no real rub routes or 2015 schemes and the CBs are slow and playing the wrong scheme and you have the worst safeties in the league (years running)

You cant win in the NFL is you cant pass at all and cant defend it. No need to continually recap that, though Sturm gets a gold star

I have an idea. Have everyone earn their playing time. For example the next false start Witten has yank him and put someone else in. The young guys aren't the only ones with lessons to learn.

Quit coddling your stars and handing them starting jobs. If you're not a coach strong enough to do it then a priority needs to be made to find one that can demand such attention.
I agree but it wont ever happen, jerry likes his star players on the field all the time.

Jerry and Stephen decide who's playing, who is he trying to fool?

perfect example, Garrett said Moore might not start this week, a couple of hours later, its announced Moore is starting.

Kinda like when he said Felix Jones wasn't going to be returning kicks any more then suddenly a day later Jerry is saying he is a weapon on returns and needs to be in. Guess who returned kicks that Sunday?

Basically he is saying that everyone starting on a 4-10 team is outperforming at a higher level than other players listed below them on the depth chart in practices.

So what kind of practices is he running?

the kind where they serve drinks with the little umbrellas in them,

It doesnt take a lot of machismo and oracle sense to make changes from Weed/Cassel/Moore or finally bench/cut Randle after knowing he is getting a suspension after riding him the first 6 games and no repercussions after the one handed goalline lunge.

Collins should have been in from week 1, but Leary was the starter and got the vet nod. injury basically made the decision for Garrett.. Parnell played better than Free this year, but Free basically was regifted the position all season.

McClain was gifted his position the moment he came off suspension. Wilson and Hitchens were actually playing better ball at the time. Witten plays 95% of every snap, and Hardy is getting way too many snaps to maintain effectiveness. You can even make the case to sit Dez when his head isnt in the game (TB, etc). Nope.

I have a hard time believing cutting White, Michael, and Patmon are sending shockwaves through protected elite.

Horrible evaluation all the way around

You are knocking it out of the park buddy but @Idgit is sure to come back with a verbose if nonsensical response

Excellent post!!! I have realized Garretts shortcomings since his first 8 - 8 season when he cost us games with bad game / clock management that made no sense for a guy who has been around the game his entire life. I saw the light early. Last year the teams performance shut me up and I made a lot of post saying maybe he is getting it but I always had a sinking suspicion it was fools gold but I bit my tongue in post. This year it has become painfully obvious that Garrett is the main issue. I am not sure why the rose colored glass posters can't come and at least admit there may be a problem like many of us so called "negative" posters admitted Garrett may possibly be FINALLY getting it last year. Is it that they just hate admitting they were wrong?? Did they buy into the whole foolish Garrett is Landry reincarnated mantra??? Could they not see the issues that even Jerry saw about Garretts OJT??? I am not sure but the ones still posting sure have an attitude. The others have run off to hide.

The board is turning to a vitriol negative mud slinging jive feast. Real football talk is evaporating
Posters that contribute the quality pieces post fewer good reads. Over and over to ad nauseum.
It's lame and boring. Make fresher points.

It gets that way as people are frustrated. It will die down.

Sorry there is not enough "quality pieces" being produced.

Maybe that is because most of those posters can't find it in themselves to write "quality pieces" about what really has been some bad football.

More than half of what any football message board is going to be about is comprised of vitriol, frustration, venting, name-calling and arguing.

If you expect some football nirvana with breakdowns of All-22 footage and a lot of technical analysis, good luck.

And the main reason why that won't happen is not all on the lame and boring posters you seem to revile so much.

Miles had 124 targets in Roy's first full year in Dallas, compared to Williams' 86. And Demarco Murray had 164 attempts and 35 targets his first full year in the league. Maybe those four guys aren't your best examples.

If you look at just this year alone, we've had Randle lose his position to McFadden, Weeden lose his position to Cassell, Cassell lose his position to Moore, Leary lose his position to Collins, Wilcox/Church lose snaps to Jones, Beasley lose return snaps to Lucky, and Patmon lose his roster spot altogether. Of all the things to complain about, I would think the coaches' unwillingness to bring in competition and to let players earn snaps would be pretty close to the bottom of the list. But, of course, we're Cowboys fans. And in Dallas, something can't be wrong without everything being wrong, and if everything is wrong then the coaches are obviously idiots. Go Cowboys.

Miles is actually a very good example, and your numbers reinforce that. He was not starting until Williams got hurt in week 4. They were forced to start Austin in week 5 and he exploded, forcing them to start him the rest of the way.

I don't see your response as the issue of posters tiring of redundant none on the field talk.
We have been going over the disagreement of FO and coaching adnuseum

I dont know where people want to draw the imaginary line of "on the filed talk." If that means the FO and coaching staff is off limits, then that is a large component of "on the field product."

Maybe some dont like the discussion that the culture leads to this product, but why is that view inherently better than seeing people tout that "things have changed and the new culture is built for the long haul - just wait"

The board is turning to a vitriol negative mud slinging jive feast. Real football talk is evaporating

I dont see that at all. You have multiple threads showing the improvement and dominance of Collins, McFadden has gotten props, Demarcus Lawrence is getting more love than not except for 1 thread a few weeks ago. Outside of that, what can come close to universal or majority view of positive real football talk? This year is a wrap. The team, like most, depends heavily on a the starting QB remaining healthy. However, 1-8 with a team many thought could build on the NFC divisional playoff and get to the superbowl, deserves to be questioned when the leader is touted as a "Landry", "leader" "offensive genius" and other superlatives hurled around with little or no backup. I cant imagine a better scenario to show that all of this process has paid off than this year. That obviously doesnt mean that it will never succeed, but its damning to the argument for sure

What real and fresh football topic would you like to discuss?

This is how I see it. These guys need playing time to see if they have what it takes. There's a big difference between practice and game and a big difference than preseason and regular-season games.

Let these guys get out there and swim even if they sink in the process because we're in a position where them sinking isn't going to hurt us.

Sinking could actually help since we get a better draft pick. I don't want them to intentionally lose for draft position but this is a win-win situation and JG is not taking advatage of it.

Why you always have to take the personal pot-shots visionary? Can you just keep the conversation on the topic of the thread?

And why tag me just to make sure I see your personal digs? Isn't it easier to just contribute to the actual discussion?

I think Idgit must be depressed as he hasn't posted much lately but truth is we are all depressed however some of us(more everyday) see the real issue.

It's not exactly rocket surgery to deduce that enthusiasm for football content dips in a fanbase once a team is eliminated from contention. That said, I'm here, and I'm posting as much as the rest of you guys are.

Some of my time's taken up cleaning up threads because upset people tend to not stay on topic. And there's only so many times you can tell a mob to be reasonable before you start feeling silly. It's not fertile ground for rational discussion right now. But we've got the long off season for that. I'll be here when y'all stop frothing.

I do miss the all-22 reviews, though. That content is great, and the debates from those threads are great. I don't understand what Alexander has against them.

Now, can we just stay on topic here?
