Yet often times the biggest leaps in player development take real game experience in order to happen.

Garrett missing a real opportunity to let a few players gain some great experience which will help us long term just to gain some advantage in the short term. Oh well, par for the course.

This is how I see it. These guys need playing time to see if they have what it takes. There's a big difference between practice and game and a big difference than preseason and regular-season games.

Let these guys get out there and swim even if they sink in the process because we're in a position where them sinking isn't going to hurt us.

Being 4-10 earns young players playing time because the older players haven't gotten it done. It was Cassel not performing that got Kellen Moore on the field.

Yes, but Moore played because Cassel was sucking. Garrett would have to decide a starter sucks before he'd play a younger player over them. Now is not the time for that. Now is the time to just see what you've got.

A player like Damien Wilson is not better than Sean Lee, but Wilson needs the reps while Lee needs to have his body protected. It is meaningless at this point to risk Lee and could hasten Wilson's development to play him.

This is same type of thinking that prevented Miles from starting over Roy Will and Demarco starting over Felix Jones until injuries.

Chaz Green could be worse than Free (I doubt it) but we won't know until we see him in real games. What's it hurt to have some young guys play and see what they can do in 2 meaningless games?

Miles had 124 targets in Roy's first full year in Dallas, compared to Williams' 86. And Demarco Murray had 164 attempts and 35 targets his first full year in the league. Maybe those four guys aren't your best examples.

If you look at just this year alone, we've had Randle lose his position to McFadden, Weeden lose his position to Cassell, Cassell lose his position to Moore, Leary lose his position to Collins, Wilcox/Church lose snaps to Jones, Beasley lose return snaps to Lucky, and Patmon lose his roster spot altogether. Of all the things to complain about, I would think the coaches' unwillingness to bring in competition and to let players earn snaps would be pretty close to the bottom of the list. But, of course, we're Cowboys fans. And in Dallas, something can't be wrong without everything being wrong, and if everything is wrong then the coaches are obviously idiots. Go Cowboys.

Jerry and Stephen decide who's playing, who is he trying to fool?

perfect example, Garrett said Moore might not start this week, a couple of hours later, its announced Moore is starting.

Most likely, because Moore wasn't his guy, Cassell and Weeden were.. Linehan brought Moore here and he's looked better than all of them and per Broaddus, Linehan wanted him starting before they even brought Cassell here.

Jerry took the fall for Garrett a couple weeks back when he said the back-up QB was his fault..

Basically he is saying that everyone starting on a 4-10 team is outperforming at a higher level than other players listed below them on the depth chart in practices.

So what kind of practices is he running?

What type of roster has Garrett been building these past 5 years that the best players we have are 4-10 caliber and all the backup players are worse?

Garrett is saying, "we cant play anybody else on the depth chart because our current starters are way better, even though they have lost almost every game this season"

This is the type of logic we are getting from our head coach?.................literally no words at this point:huh:

Garrett needs two wins too mitigate his humiliation, lad.
Bollocks I say!
He's no longer part of the equation!
We need a top 5 pick in the draft more than we need for Garrett to not appear the weak, bland coach that he is.
Sir Jones, be a leader and send Garrett packing to the CFL!!!!

Bloody well right !!!!!! You hit the nail on the head mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of what he says anymore I just ignore.

What he talks about just does not pass the smell test when you are getting outcoached every week.

Sorry, if he were running practices "the right way" like he loves to say, we might have been able to grab a win or two.

Maybe he needs to start looking at how he and his staff are stacking and executing instead of arrogantly assuming in a passive aggressive way the players aren't doing it.

this is such delusional BS its can only be taken as numerous

I prefer to play young guys in meaningless games to let them get experience and to evaluate for next season.

You apparently want to keep playing veterans that have a 4-10 record to show for their efforts this year.

I will let others decide which viewpoint is delusional and which viewpoint is rational.

If they earned a roster spot then they earned some playing time.
How in the heck can they earn anything if not given a chance.

This one Garrett is way off base on. So, let's keep a possible player that can develop on the bench, only to be released because he did not develop, so he can go elsewhere and be an all pro.

Guess the coaches like Henderson, Dooley, Brown, Wilson really need replaced if they can't develop a player to earn playing time.

It doesnt take a lot of machismo and oracle sense to make changes from Weed/Cassel/Moore or finally bench/cut Randle after knowing he is getting a suspension after riding him the first 6 games and no repercussions after the one handed goalline lunge.

Collins should have been in from week 1, but Leary was the starter and got the vet nod. injury basically made the decision for Garrett.. Parnell played better than Free this year, but Free basically was regifted the position all season.

McClain was gifted his position the moment he came off suspension. Wilson and Hitchens were actually playing better ball at the time. Witten plays 95% of every snap, and Hardy is getting way too many snaps to maintain effectiveness. You can even make the case to sit Dez when his head isnt in the game (TB, etc). Nope.

I have a hard time believing cutting White, Michael, and Patmon are sending shockwaves through protected elite.

Horrible evaluation all the way around

This is an interesting comment. Care to elaborate?

It is a bad year. People are going to get mad. The board will naturally get negative.

Don't think the absence of the good ol' All-22 recaps haven't been noticed. Where are all the recaps and what not? Ran off by negative posters? Don't be naïve.

Just like how some say the "negative" posters "disappear" when the team wins.

Funny how that all works out.
